- Quite clear.

(Less than a day, it was very surprising and also nice.

- Not really, I was surprised at how quick my article was reviewed. But I think it was just because of the reliability/notability of it as well as the categories I added. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SenatorLEVI (talk • contribs) 08:05, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

[edit]- What was your submission?
- Did you find the instructions clear?
- Yes. The instructions were relatively clear. I understood them. Thank you.
- How quickly was your submission reviewed?
- For me, the entire process took three weeks.
- Do you have any suggestions to improve the process?
- Yes. Please make sure all of your editors understand what constitutes Wikipedia notability. Some of them are clueless. I must admit that I did receive positive feedback from a few people, and I thanked them. And the not so positive feedback provided opportunities for growth as well. But if it had not been for the Editor sdkb, appearing out of nowhere just a few hours ago, I don't know where I would be today. If it's possible, I would like to recommend sdkb for a top Barnstar Award for demonstrating courage, wisdom and fairness. It is clearly deserved.

- What was your submission?
- George A. LeMaistre
- Did you find the instructions clear?
- Yes, but I found the submission process unclear. I think the problem was the view mode, but I am not sure. I am still a newbie.
- How quickly was your submission reviewed?
- Very quickly. Maybe one hour?
- Do you have any suggestions to improve the process?
- Editing existing articles is easy. Creating a new article is pretty easy. Submitting the new article -- as noted above -- a bit baffling. The biggest obstacle for me remains the discussion process. I am never quite sure how or where that takes place and how matters are resolved, if, indeed, they are. That said, I am loving the opportunity to improve this resource. [edit]- What was your submission?
I had different reviews, which from the general wiki point of view can be considered good, but until I got an expert reviewer about my topic, I couldn't move on. Often, the reviewers don't leave any comments and try to get a specific word; it becomes challenging.
- Did you find the instructions clear?
Yes, but for a beginner like me, it takes a while to fit the process.
- How quickly was your submission reviewed?
The reviews were quick, but the follows up very slow.
- Do you have any suggestions to improve the process?
Yes, assign the review to the right team directly (insert a new field to select the article's area) who has the proper knowledge, circumstances that can lead to a delay generated from the reviewer should suggest giving the review to someone else. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LovingOperaForever (talk • contribs) 20:20, 23 March 2021 (UTC)

[edit]- What was your submission?
- Did you find the instructions clear?
- Absolutely! They were very clear and extremely helpful.
- How quickly was your submission reviewed?
- Super-fast.
- Do you have any suggestions to improve the process?
- I think Wikipedia's current practice of encouraging newcomers to submit drafts for review and to obtain feedback is sensible. Once writers have a bit more experience, they can then try and create new pages directly.

[edit]- What was your submission?
- My submission was https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Destination_Marfa_(film)
- Did you find the instructions clear?
- Unfortunately not. I found everything to be rather confusing.
- How quickly was your submission reviewed?
- Not well at all. I've been accused of being paid to write the submission and being accused of having a conflict of interest. I think that's disgusting because your editors are slandering and defaming me and assassinating my character. We (my wife and I )are fans of the town of Marfa and the Marfa lights which we have visited for years. They are a huge phenomenon. There hasn't been a film made about Marfa since Giant with James Dean and it makes us proud. My wife is from Marfa, she grew up there. Once we learned about this film (which seems to have a ton of exposure already all over the internet with trailers and posters and photos that are now legally public domain) I looked it up on imdb and on Wikipedia. I saw that it didn't have a Wikipedia page. So I reached out to the film's social media pages to let them know we are fans of Marfa and that my wife is from there. I told them we are even fans of some of the actors in the film from other projects. It was a while until I heard back from them. I asked for permission as a fan to be able to set up a wiki page and again as a fan to mention them on social media. They said the producers were fine with that and that the film's release was delayed to do Covid, but that as long as we (my wife and I) were fans, they were fine with it.
You're making a mountain of out nothing, being far too dramatic. If your editors had spent this much time doing their own jobs then Destination Marfa would already have had its own Wikipedia page. I wouldn't have had to add anything.
I don't have any attachments to the film other than being a fan of the town of Marfa, I like the trailer they released and I like two or three of the actors. There is no conflict of interest because nothing subjective has been included in the article. It is all objective and all factual. I find your responses and behavior to be uncouth. You've played judge and jury with me and slandered and defamed me. Guilty till proven innocent, and I haven't done anything wrong. I apologize for whatever rules I wasn't aware of but am now aware of them.
- Do you have any suggestions to improve the process?
- Well you could thank folks for contributing an article and be a little more professional and polite before slandering them. It doesn't make sense to personally attack people, it's just not smart. The process should be a little easier to understand, and you should ask the person submitting the articles more questions before accusing and judging them, it doesn't behoove anyone or make anybody want to ever read or use Wikipedia again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PhillipRyanNY (talk • contribs) 16:10, 19 May 2021 (UTC)

- Did you find the instructions clear?
- Reasonable i.e. understandable in the end but confusing at first as I am wholly new to creating a page. There was a very large amount of support and advice available but navigatnig to it and getting what helped was tricky (for me)
I found the advice I received wha I asked specific questions very helpful. Many thanks then and to the final reviewer who cleaned up the article.
- How quickly was your submission reviewed?
- Immediately at first (& rejected) updateated and again after 4 months (& accepted)
- Do you have any suggestions to improve the process?
- It would have been nice to know if I was in a queue and that it was moving forward, but that would go against the policy of reviewers picking what they would review.
- What was your submission?
- Did you find the instructions clear?
- NO - not really . . . . I am have a lot of trouble removed the wrong photo and replacing it with an acceptable one.
- How quickly was your submission reviewed?
- seven months of editing - very painstaking and very slow and I never know how to communicate with anyone. . . hugely depressing and frustrating process . . . . three - four days of adding code at a time. . .
- Do you have any suggestions to improve the process?
- yes - if possible - dedicate a terrific competent editor - like captain eek - to a lay person like me . . . so that I can actually know how to add text / what to remove, etc. Right now - I would like to add a photo and launch the article . . . I have no idea how to do either. . . .

- What was your submission?
- Tong Zeng
- Did you find the instructions clear?
- The writing is very standard, professional and easy to understand. It's just that I need to convert to Chinese. The time is slower.
- How quickly was your submission reviewed?
- I got the review very quickly. It's only a few hours. It's very efficient. Thank the editor who reviewed my articles for me.
- Do you have any suggestions to improve the process?
- Dear editors
First of all, thank you for your recognition and encouragement.
I'm still studying at University in Beijing. I learned a lot by writing Wikipedia.
My grandfather told me the story of Tong Zeng. They are a generation. I adore Mr. Tong Zeng very much. Recently I got his approval to write his article. Coincidentally, Mr. Tong Zeng told me that he recently had an email exchange with Mr. Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia. He congratulated Wikipedia on its 20th anniversary!
Mr. Tong Zeng also said that he would be very honored to be on Wikipedia! Because Wikipedia is the most popular public welfare website.
In addition, I have a request. My article can take a step further from "C". Can you give me more help in this aspect, such as some specific opinions according to my article.
Because I need to look at Wikipedia over the wall. I wonder if there are any volunteer editors of Wikipedia in Beijing.
I wish you all the best!

- What was your submission?
- John Steven Gurney
- Did you find the instructions clear?
- Yes, but I had to do a lot of searching around to find instructions for each step of the way. It was very much less than straightforward.
- How quickly was your submission reviewed?
- It was about 7 months of waiting.
- Do you have any suggestions to improve the process?
- The randomness of the review process (the note that articles are reviewed in random order) is ridiculous. They should be reviewed in the order they are received so that there is at least a light at the end of the tunnel when you submit an article. When I submitted, I saw a note that said it could be up to 3 months. This kept getting longer and longer the longer I waited. I felt helpless and it was very frustrating. It does not make me want to go through the process of creating an article again.

Thomas Ellerby Portrait Painter
- Did you find the instructions clear?
- Not for someone who has never been taught anything to do with computers and is having trouble understanding very basic jargon! Seeing where to click for the next stage to be achieved was frequently a real challenge! I did try to read and understand the help guides and am sure 99% of the time the fault was mine but would have loved to find something very basic. I expect it is there but there was just so much information.
Part of the problem was that I had two people sending me messages and one very kindly expanded on the article and my references which then threw me into confusion when I wanted to follow the advice and expand my own. Still I have achieved a stub but still not sure what really happens next and keep being asked how even that can be viewed by others!

[edit]- What was your submission?
- Did you find the instructions clear?
- I approached this from the viewpoint of a brand new editor (or, as much as I could). I used the Article wizard, which made it very easy to go through the process of ensuring the topic was likely notable enough for inclusion, and provided me guidance on paid/COI editing. The instructions were well written and clearly understandable.
- How quickly was your submission reviewed?
- My submission was reviewed in 6 days
- Do you have any suggestions to improve the process?
- I could imagine a legitimate new user, who wouldn't have the foreknowledge that drafts can take a while to be reviewed, would be anxious to know how much longer they have to wait. This could be more proactively shown to the editor (though I appreciate the AfC queue is not a true queue)

- Harold Morrison
- Did you find the instructions clear?
- Yes, but I will admit this was my first attempt, so it was challenging. Being a man, I tend to try it first then read the instructions once I'm hopelessly lost. However, in this case, I scanned the instructions, got things started, read through them more carefully, fixed several things I'd overlooked, then really read them and realized that I was in for a bit more work than I originally thought. I still see where there are a number of tweaks needed to make him more clean and proper, but coming from a genealogical research background, it was interesting to attempt to enter things from a slightly different perspective. I found the experience difficult and a bit anxiety-ridden, as each "comment" that was posted or when I had a slight "correction" (added categories prior to approval), I kept thinking that I was going to make someone angry and ruin my chances for approval. Now that I've been through the process once, I'll definitely take my time, try not to make rookie mistakes, and take a deep breath when someone is being helpful and hopefully consider that being noticed and receiving comments and helpful hints is all part of the process.
- How quickly was your submission reviewed?
- It was a bit over a month, I think. I didn't count the exact timeframe.
- Do you have any suggestions to improve the process?
- I would love if there were coaches who could chat you through the process, but I suspect like many sites, the number of staff who are "online" is very few and probably centered around development and support of the site, and less available for this purpose. Plus such things increase costs, and that's always a challenge. I think the only thing that might be helpful (and may already be there, there was a lot of help information) might be a sample Wikipedia article - one that was done right and shows examples of all the bells and whistles - so that you could look at it in a finished form, look at it in edit mode and see the behind the scenes pieces, and such. And my only other thought was perhaps an official "You Tube" on creation would have been a good thing too. That too might already be out there, but you never know until you ask. Thanks for an interesting and tremendous learning experience.

- Yes, but some of the points will be explict if helping videos are available for new editors. Instead of visiting videos from YouTube, wikipedia videos will be more meaningful and help in cultivating an excellent crop of new editors. Some of the new people may lose their patience because they don't want to read too much about the methodology but videos can make the things clear easily. [edit]- What was your submission?
- Manual of German Law
- Did you find the instructions clear?
- I am trying to be as generous as possible ... this requires me to sort out what I got wrong ...
A. I think Wiki wants less rather than more in an opening article on a new scholarly subject. So I provided too much information when I started .. but at least that demonstrated that I had researched the online and published sources to an excruciating degree of exactness. B. I think all non-Wiki cites are FNs REFs rather than having the non-Wiki URLs in the text. C. I think I was right to give up for two years since the editor who started reading the page was an expert in Japanese Manga (not sure what that was) and the webpage was on a well-known study of German law.
- How quickly was your submission reviewed?
- Two years (almost). And when it was deleted after Wiki editors refused to read my corrections, it was not reinstated at my request.
But this turned out to be a bonus, because the Wiki editor DGG did a spectacular job of clean, trimming and presenting the materials.
- Do you have any suggestions to improve the process?
- There is a long answer to this Q but I'm too new for you to (probably) care. I think what I have to do is to acquire sufficient Wiki culture (less is more, cites in your format)
and accept that every change will be resisted ... I apologize for the crass nature of what follows, but I am one of the world's leading experts in parliamentary procedure and practice. There are about 20 at my level in the world and I cover the subject in German, Italian and Catalonian as well. It would kind of nice if I could gently update some of the more important Wiki articles in this area ... and have an experienced editor (that means an editor who is experienced like DGG) tidy up the material so that I can gain Wiki-smarts faster. 'Manual of German Law' was an homage to one of my colleagues who died in January 2021 so this is not specialized knowledge that is imperishable. Thanks for listening. Still not sure how to compliment DGG but I'll keep working at it. Best wishes, Peter

- Less than one hour! Great job!
- Do you have any suggestions to improve the process?
- I've edited many articles and researched this and that policy or template over the years so I was ahead of the curve and found it easy. At this point, I can't think of anything that would have made the process go smoother.

[edit]- What was your submission?
- Lancelot Storr
- Did you find the instructions clear?
- Yes (there were no instructions)
- How quickly was your submission reviewed?
- one month
- Do you have any suggestions to improve the process?
- Yes. Small submissions, like this, are sometimes dismissed by editors as irrelevant, obscure or too trite. I don't think that's the case at all, and I'm very happy that you gave this your approval. Storr, by the way, was a member of the Imperial War Cabinet during World War I. Thank's for your help, and happy editing!
