Looking UP! - a monthly review of WP:Airports activity – April 2008[edit]

This is the inaugural issue of a planned monthly summary of WP:Airports activity for the WP:AVIATION Newsletter. We hope it will serve as a quick recap of recent accomplishments and a guide for future activity around the Airports sub-project. - by your humble servant: -Canglesea (talk) 17:32, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Status of articles -[edit]

As of March 2008, there were 9,157 Airport articles representing 33% of WP:AVIATION. I encourage everyone to review the 1 FA Class article and 8 GA Class articles to see the best that WP:Airports has to offer. B Class articles currently number 131 including a recent upgrade of Roanoke Regional Airport, thanks to User:Patriarca12.

New articles -[edit]

Over 100 missing articles have been added in the past two months. Reviewing the list of new Airport articles you will see the efforts of several members including User:Newm30, User:Whale plane, User:CambridgeBayWeather, User:AlbertHerring, and User:WhisperToMe. An especially important goal is the completion of missing International Airports with no article.

Infoboxes (new and old) -[edit]

Significant progress has been made in the addition of Infobox Airport to all Airport articles, mostly through the untiring efforts of User:Zyxw. There are more Airport articles needing InfoBoxes. We will also continue to update and address the list of airport articles needing replacement of old Infobox.

Future airports and expansion -[edit]

There is a dynamic list of planned new airports and expansion of existing ones. We will keep the list and the articles up to date as progress continues.
