Wikipedia:WikiProject Biography/Core biographies/list

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The purpose of this list is to compare data between the core biographies. The following rules are due to forced completeness of the list, meaning that information is included as long as it would be the best assumption made by a reasonable person, given the information available on Wikipedia. Therefore, the information below may not be accurate; it is recommended that each person's respective article is used to confirm the data shown here.

  • An empty cell indicates that the information is not available.
    • Example: Historical records of people from ancient history are scarce, and therefore a person's birth and death dates are not always known.
  • A "—" indicates that the information does not exist.
    • Example: A person who is still living will not have a death date or death place.
  • The dates of birth and death for people where at least one of either date is known will have the other date to be 50 years apart.
    • Example: For people from ancient history, if a birth date is known, then the death date will be assumed to be within the next 50 years of that person's life.
  • The dates of birth and death for groups of people are the latest and earliest dates, respectively.
    • Example: For siblings who are listed as one item, the collective birth date is the earliest date at which every person in the group was alive together. Similarly, the collective death date is the latest date at which every person in the group was alive together.
  • The countries listed indicate the present-day country that occupies the territory. If only one of a person's birth or death country is known, then the other will be assumed to be the same as the one that is known.
    • Example: If a person's birth country is known, and the person's death country is not known, then it will be assumed to be the same as the birth country.
  • The occupation listed implies the field that the person influenced the most, and is purposely generic in order to be comparable with other people on the list. Only the following seven occupations are permitted for usage: Artist, Athlete, Philosopher, Politician, Scientist, Theologian, and Writer.
