Q1

Thanks Harsha, for setting up the new round! So, here we go! I will start with a quickie.

UP has 4 of them. Next come Kerala, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu with 3 each and Andrapradesh, Bihar and Karnataka with 2 each. 5 more states and 3 union territories (including Delhi) have just one each.

What are they? ViswaPrabha വിശ്വപ്രഭ (talk) 02:00, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Benches of High courts? Yes Michael?Talk 12:21, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
No, Sorry :( ViswaPrabha വിശ്വപ്രഭ (talk) 14:45, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
UNESCO Heritage Sites !! Prasad (talk) 18:11, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
They too do not add up to the numbers given! ViswaPrabha വിശ്വപ്രഭ (talk) 23:21, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

A possible hint: There are only five independent countries in the world which have not even one of these! ViswaPrabha വിശ്വപ്രഭ (talk) 23:21, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

May be time for another hint ?? Prasad (talk) 17:31, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

They seldom come up in the front page headlines. But when they do come so, they do it in a real big way and no one like it most of the times ViswaPrabha വിശ്വപ്രഭ (talk) 18:46, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Major/Central/Women Jail/Prisons ?? Prasad (talk) 10:59, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for the continued attempts. But still not anywhere near! :( ViswaPrabha വിശ്വപ്രഭ (talk) 11:31, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

One more Clue? They have rather very narrow 'Gates' and really huge 'Corridor's! ViswaPrabha വിശ്വപ്രഭ (talk) 11:31, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

Is this an execution chamber being discussed? rueben_lys (talk · contribs) 12:49, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

ha ha! No way! OMG, Why do we have to be this gloomy! In normal situations, people love to be in these places! (Although they tend to be in much tension about the time and paperwork involved). [I think this must be enough to break the bubble :) Originally I thought this question will have a mere 10 minute's life!] ViswaPrabha വിശ്വപ്രഭ (talk) 15:52, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

ha, I think i got it; Passport/Visa Offices..Prasad (talk) 16:34, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

You are closer, but not in! ViswaPrabha വിശ്വപ്രഭ (talk) 17:03, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
International airports? ShahidTalk2me 17:33, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

Yes Shahid! Get ready to shoot your question!

List_of_international_airports_in_India

The airports have the 'Gates' (in a specific sense) and invisible 'air corridors' above them that facilitates easy ATC and air traffic. ViswaPrabha വിശ്വപ്രഭ (talk) 17:41, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

And how is all this helping develop India articles? AshLin (talk) 17:54, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
That very page List_of_international_airports_in_India is currently an orphan. I think it can be linked quite well with other related articles. ViswaPrabha വിശ്വപ്രഭ (talk) 18:02, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
Very small returns considering how much time & effort people put into this quiz. AshLin (talk) 18:58, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

Sorry to interrupt. The question is brilliant but i believe the answer doesn't fit in according to question !! It should be 27 Entities according to Initial question, but the page says only 19 and i know, as i am from AP, we have only one Intl. Airport. That's why i didn't try that option even when at first look i thought of that answer only. Passport offices ( http://passport.nic.in/) fits in better than Intl. Airports i believe. Intl. Airport, according to the Wikipedia page itself, UP has only one, the question says 4..there are many anomalies.Prasad (talk) 01:33, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

Thank you Prasad for the excellent interruption. When the question was formulated On 4th March, the counts were exactly as seen in the page List_of_international_airports_in_India. However, that page was edited subsequently and now the list is shorter! On checking other references, the official page from AAI (http://www.aai.aero/allAirports/int_airports.jsp) shows fewer pages than actual. No reliable reference was found elsewhere as well.

Being in such ambiguity, what is the normal practice? Another question with the same number Q1? Please enlighten. Thank you! ViswaPrabha വിശ്വപ്രഭ (talk) 03:27, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

Thank you Viswa, that was not to discourage you. Pl. continue with another new question, that is your chance. Go ahead and shoot a new one ! Prasad (talk) 04:19, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

Q2

I see there were some doubts about the previous question, so I'll ask a simpler one. What do Manju Kapur, Amit Chaudhuri and Allan Sealy have in common? ShahidTalk2me 10:37, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

I believe, previous question should not carry any marks..For the answer part for Q2, all three author's first books were either short-listed or won an international award? Prasad (talk) 11:32, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

I don't really agree about that but if you think so then go ahead.
I need you to be more specific. ShahidTalk2me 11:57, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
All three have won The Commonwealth Prize. Prasad (talk) 12:26, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
They did not win but were nominated, but I accept. Your turn now (and someone will have to start an article about Manju Kapur!:)) ShahidTalk2me 12:30, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
PS: I updated the table. If you guys think I should not be given credit for the first question, then I have no objections to its removal. ShahidTalk2me 12:35, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

Q4

What do Goutam Ghose, Prakash Jha, Mani Kaul have in common? ShahidTalk2me 15:32, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

May be all three of them are winners of the National Film Award for Best Non-Feature/Documentary Film ?? Prasad (talk) 15:50, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
No, only Kaul and Jha won the National Film Award for Best Non-Feature Film. But yes, it's an award, which one? ShahidTalk2me 16:54, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
Best Feature Film in each of the languages specified in schedule VIII of the constitution; Mrinal Sen 4 times for Bengali/ Hindi- Bhuvan Shome (1970), Chorus (1975), Mrigaya (1977), and Akaler Sandhane (1981), Goutam Ghose for Dakhal (1982) and Prakash Jha for Damul (1985) ? - Admishra (talk) 00:59, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
or could be Filmfare Award for Best Documentary for Beyond the Himalayas, Faces after the storm, and Siddheshwari respectively -Admishra (talk) 01:08, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
Goutam Ghose also won the award, but it was named differently (Documentary / Non-feature)from some years back. Prasad (talk) 04:07, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
Admishra is correct, it's the Filmfare Award for Best Documentary, the reason I referred to it: the article is almost entirely red-linked. ShahidTalk2me 08:42, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

Q6

A is a talented and professionally trained actress most of whose films have been outside of India. Although she is still active as an actor, today she is mostly known for another profession (B) which started as a hobby when she was not getting enough roles in international cinema. She was married to another actor (C) who acted in both Indian and international cinema. 20 years after their divorce both were coactors in an Indian movie (X), which is probably her only Indian film. They have one daughter (Y) who is currently a character actress in Hollywood.

Who is actress A, which profession is B, who is actor C, which film is X, and who is actress Y? ShahidTalk2me 13:21, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Actually, according to my source, I'm not correct. But the source seems to be on Wiki's spam blacklist, so I dunno whether to trust it or not. I had initially edited the page for Saurav, but I reverted it now. Will wait for reliable sources before editing again. New question should be up soon. VigneshVR (talk) 06:47, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
I agree with you, after due verification i also found that there are as many 7 Squash players who have won the Arjuna award, starting with Capt. This acclaimed movie of its time won a top honour. It starred two very popular actors in the lead roles, both of whom worked together only twice. The film is based on a short story, the author of which passed away 11 years after the release of the film. In that same year, another film sharing the first word of the film's title, was made. This question has a rather South Indian context.

A was a play written in 1961, the first of a trilogy retelling the great epic B. A was made into a classic movie C in 1977. A certain tribal community D features in C. Interestingly, D consider themselves to have descended from the family of the hero in the epic. Name A, B, C & D ViswaPrabha വിശ്വപ്രഭ (talk) 12:05, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

A - Kanchana Sita, B - Ramayana, C - Kanchana Sita, D - Rama Chenchu. --Amondal (talk) 16:33, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

I am not sure if this will end up as another pretty easy or tough question. If it does, let it be so! :)

State %age
Maharashtra 25%
Gujarat 14%
Rajastan 13%
Uttar Pradesh 13%
West Bengal 11%
Haryana 5%

Andhra Pradesh 2%

Tamil Nadu 5%

A certain feature, considered to be one of the parameters that contribute to the economic and social development of a nation, is shown in the table above, distributed (by percentage) to the states where they exist.

At present, (as per WP data on date), the total quantity is just a little short of 700. To my convenience here, I am not mentioning the unit for its measure.

Other states do have similar features, but they are still not up to the same high standards and capacities to be counted in our table. However, the GoI has been investing thousands of crores in these years which will change the above data drastically.

What feature we are talking about?

It also acts as an intermediate agent (forming semi-conducting layers) for special glass/art electroplating jobs. In India, it has been in use as a dye and ink since at least 4th century BC.
Prasad takes the point. Please get us a new question :) ViswaPrabha വിശ്വപ്രഭ (talk) 16:26, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

Q20

Thank you Viswa, here is the question (might be easy for you..)

This Guru coined the slogan “One religion, one caste and one god for mankind”, while his disciple altered the slogan as “No religion, no caste and no god for mankind” during Independence/Reform movement. Identify both the Guru & the Disciple! Prasad (talk) 17:09, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
Narayana Swami and Ayyappan. Yes Michael?Talk 17:17, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
Very fast, correct. Shoot a new Q Mike. Prasad (talk) 00:49, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
I am sorry, but think the answer should be a little more precise. In Kerala, these names, especially, the second one are too generic not implying particular personalities. A link or two can help. :) ViswaPrabha വിശ്വപ്രഭ (talk) 03:13, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
Mike, any takes on that?? Prasad (talk) 03:40, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
What I meant to mention was that, the answers, although correct, could be a little more precise. In Kerala, these names, especially, the second one are too generic not implying particular personalities. Sree Narayana Guru and Sahodaran Ayyappan are however, uniquely identifiable and well famed :-)
Of course, Mike takes the point and we wait for his next question :-) ViswaPrabha വിശ്വപ്രഭ (talk) 03:51, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
Sorry for any ambiguity there; probably should have been more specific. Anyway, I'm on a wikibreak now, so I request any one of you to post another one. Thanks! Yes Michael?Talk 12:37, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
Viswa, will you take the baton, as you have ratified the answer !! Prasad (talk) 16:01, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
Sorry. Can't think of one fast. Can someone else please? ViswaPrabha വിശ്വപ്രഭ (talk) 15:56, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

Q21

This one should be easy:

There is a young woman from Denmark
Who left dad's court to dance in dark!
She chanted for peace,
Gyrates with ease..
Even after the break, she kept her maRK!
--Longhairandabeard (talk) 17:32, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
Anne Marie Petersen ? Prasad (talk) 04:55, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
Nope.. how do you fit in the clues? -- Longhairandabeard (talk) 12:42, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
Esther Faering Menon? ViswaPrabha വിശ്വപ്രഭ (talk) 14:00, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
Unlikely, but still, is it Johan Bittmann? --Dwaipayan (talk) 15:01, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
Well, tI think I might have got it. Deepika Padukone. I was thinking Raj Kapoor, but RK is Ranbir, right?--Dwaipayan (talk) 15:14, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
Good one.--Suresh Purohit (Su_hit) (talk) 15:47, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
Dwaipayan has it! Deepika was born in Denmark, didn't want to pursue badminton like her father Prakash Padukone, played a blind dancer in Lafangey Parindey, lead role in Om Shanti Om, dance number in Dum Maro Dum; and retained her RK tattoo even after breaking up with Ranbir Kapoor.. -- Longhairandabeard (talk) 16:05, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
Good work nailing 3 redlinks! All three eminently DYK-able too! -- Longhairandabeard (talk) 16:07, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
A very good question! These are the kind of questions we miss here in PINQ! ViswaPrabha വിശ്വപ്രഭ (talk) 16:16, 6 May 2011 (UTC)

Q22

I am named after one of this famous twins (say, T1). I have a twin who are named after another twin (T2). These twins (T2) belong to the same large family as T1 twins. Who am I?--Dwaipayan (talk) 15:32, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

INSAT ? Prasad (talk) 16:11, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
no. 'I' is a personality.--Dwaipayan (talk) 03:43, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
Shatrughan Sinha. --Amondal (talk) 11:10, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
Shatrughan Sinha is the closest that seems to be an answer. But is he himslef a twin? No idea! Or did the question miss an important word sons/offsprings in the second sentence? Is the apparent improper use of 'are' a clue? ViswaPrabha വിശ്വപ്രഭ (talk) 20:11, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
Yes, it is Shatrughan Sinha. Sorry for the ambiguity in the question. The word "offspring" could have helped. What I meant was the two sons of Shatrughan Sinha, named Luv and Kush. Over to you, Amondal. --Dwaipayan (talk) 23:06, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

Q23

Here is a easy one. Name a movie which has more than 60 songs. --Amondal (talk) 14:44, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

Indrasabha ! Prasad (talk) 15:35, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
Yes. It has 71 songs. Over to you. --Amondal (talk) 16:35, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

Q24

Here is another easy one from Mythology. Whose original name was Rasagreev? Prasad (talk) 17:03, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

The quiz got into slumber again !! here is a clue; In some scriptures, it is given as Dasagreev? Prasad (talk) 08:48, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
Clue really helped! Ravana sachin_tttkn
Yes, it is Ravana, over to you sachin. Give us a good finishing question for the round.Prasad (talk) 10:35, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
Hi Prasad, Although the question is done now, I would like to know which source or book mention the name "Rasagreev". (Though Dasagreeva is very familiar and well quoted) :) Thanks ViswaPrabha വിശ്വപ്രഭ (talk) 16:32, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
Hi Viswa, The source is a vachana Ramayana i read in my school days and recently in KQA quizzes also i heard this (in 2004)!! Prasad (talk) 16:56, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
Thanks Prasad. Eagerly waiting for the final question from sachin_tttkn! - ViswaPrabha വിശ്വപ്രഭ (talk) 20:19, 16 May 2011 (UTC)

Are we stuck again? :( ViswaPrabha വിശ്വപ്രഭ (talk) 15:22, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

Q25

All right, here's one more to keep things rolling:

There is an old lady from Jalgaon
The first chef femme of the gov
The loss of Rest
Caused her lots of unrest
She might be broke but her cooking's said to be Wow!
-- Longhairandabeard (talk) 17:47, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
Pratibha Patil. ShahidTalk2me 18:06, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
That's right! The clues refer to her brother's involvement in the Vishram Patil murder case, charges of insolvency against her and a Rajasthan minister's comment that she got the President's post because she cooked for the Gandhi family.. Congrats Shahid on winning this round! Baton is all yours for the new round! -- Longhairandabeard (talk) 18:11, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
Thank you, that was a very nice question. ShahidTalk2me 18:13, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
