This guideline is a draft and is still up for discussion

Orienteering articles has assessment guidelines that helps with assessing importance for articles. The guidelines doesn't give indications in all cases but gives help in finding what is important in Wikipedia from orienteering point of view.

High Not that popular disciplines
Top Equipment essential for orienteering
High Other equipment not that essential for orienteering
Low Other equipment related to orienteering

Biographies

Importance Criteria
High Innovators and pioneers in the orienteering sport
High Orienteer that has at least two gold medals and totally six medals from championships
Mid Orienteer that has at least one individual gold medals and totally four medals from championships
Low Orienteer, the rest that doesn't meet any of the criteria above

Importance can be heightened by one step if an orienteer is somehow remarkable or comes from an English speaking country.

Organizations, federations and clubs

Top International organizations
Mid Organizations from English speaking countries
Mid Country specific organizations that has more then 20 orienteers (in Wikipedia) in the specific country
High Clubs that have achieved ten victories in large relays like Jukola and Tiomila
Mid Clubs that have achieved five victories in large relays like Jukola and Tiomila
Low Clubs that have achieved four or less victories in large relays like Jukola and Tiomila

Importance can be heightened by one step if an organization is somehow remarkable or comes from an English speaking country.

Events

High Large international events with more then 5000 participants
Mid Events with more then 1000 participants
Low Events with less then 1000 participants and is in somewhat remarkable to meet the notability criteria for Wikipedia
High Championships governed by by IOF
Mid Other international championships

Importance can be heightened by one step if an event is somehow remarkable or is organized in a English speaking country.
