- This event is internal to Smithsonian staff and affiliates.
- During this event participants will learn what Wikidata is, why Smithsonian units are editing Wikidata, and how to edit Wikidata. Participants will also learn about adding images to the Wikimedia Commons.
- This event is planned in conjunction with AWHI Open Knowledge Coordinator Kelly Doyle, Smithsonian Institution Libraries, and Smithsonian American Art Museum.
Get started
[edit]- Sign in to Wikidata using your existing login for Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, etc.
- OR Create a Wikidata account
- Enroll in the dashboard (to track our progress)
- Enable the Recoin, CurrentDate, and Drag N' Drop gadgets in your preferences once you're logged in
- Ask questions in the Zoom chat

- Activity: Sandbox items in Wikidata: play around with these without worrying about making mistakes

- You will need the Editathon Worklist Spreadsheet as well as the partially pre-filled Walcott Metadata Template.
