Pittsburgh convention includes Wikipedia panel

Campus Ambassador Michel Aaij and Public Policy Initiative Online Facilitator Sage Ross are leading a panel at the Sigma Tau Delta Convention in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Thursday, March 24, at 12:30 p.m. local time. Michel and Sage will be discussing the general idea of Wikipedia, what it is and what it isn't, and the possibilities for teachers to use Wikipedia as an educational tool. Michel will share his experiences with using Wikipedia in a freshman composition class as well as lessons learned from the Public Policy Initiative. Learn more about the convention.

The latest addition to the Wikipedia Ambassador screencast collection is an instructional video on uploading files to Wikimedia Commons. Students are often encouraged to illustrate their articles with images, and this screencast walks you through how to do that using the new Upload Wizard. Watch the screencast to learn more.

Call in Monday to Blog Talk Radio show

The Association for Social Media and Higher Education is sponsoring an online Blog Talk Radio show about Wikipedia on Monday, March 28, at 1:30 p.m. ET. Wikipedia editor Ryan Dellolio and Public Policy Initiative Communications Associate LiAnna Davis will field questions about Wikipedia in higher education, including the Public Policy Initiative and how students should use Wikipedia in the classroom. Listen in to the conversation.

A big welcome to the new subscribers to the newsletter who learned about the Public Policy Initiative and using Wikipedia on campus at the SoTL Commons conference. If you're interested in working with us during the summer term, please reply to this email and let us know; we'll start a general call for fall interest in April.
