List of Valkyria Chronicles characters[edit]

I am putting this up for peer review, because I intend to get this a featured list, along with Valkyria Chronicles. This article is currently a start class article. I have also contributed significantly to the article. I would eventually like to see it featured. Any feedback should be very much appreciated. • The list is missing some sort of a lead – something substantive that get readers into the list. Per the WP:LEAD guidelines, I recommend about two short paragraphs for the lead; make sure the information is all verifiable and cited somewhere. I would even recommend merging the "Creation and conception" into the lead.
  • You need to have properly-formatted citations, such as with the first reference. Use the {{cite web}} template to properly fill out and organize these references.
  • Is the list complete? I ask because all I see under the Valkyria Chronicles III sub-list are members of Squad 442 and nobody else.
  • In the Valkyria Chronicles: Wish Your Smile subsection, I would just place at the beginning of that section a mention of non-availability in the North American version and remove them from the individual character entries to reduce redundancy.
  • I know it's a little harder for writing about fiction, but make everything that can be cited is. For the games themselves, you can cite the games themselves and include dialogue quotes if necessary so that people can access it readily. Obviously, if you're getting the information from a guide or any other paper source (even a manual or notes), please cite.
  • Per MOS:NUM, numbers over "nine" are normally written in numeric form (i.e. Welkin is the 22-year-old main protagonist ... instead of Welkin is the twenty-two year old main protagonist ...)
  • All military ranks are normally capitalized (i.e. Lieutenant, Captain, General, etc.)
  • I believe tank commander is lowercase unless it is referring to a specific formal position.
  • Make sure you wikilink those relevant terms (i.e. non-commissioned officer, including the titles of the games and any other relevant terms in which readers may not understand without making a quick click. Remember to avoid overlinking and not link every single time a certain title or term is mentioned, but exercise some common sense and good judgment.
  • Review your comma usage with regards to coordinating conjunctions such as "and", "but", "or", etc. Remember to only insert a comma before a coordinating conjunction when a list is involved or when both parts of the sentence contain subjects and verbs (i.e. are both "independent clauses").
  • Watch the weasel words and words that tend to editorialize or unnecessarily "inflate" the importance of something. Examples include ... however, Isara is extremely devoted to Welkin., ... Isara is a true prodigy when it comes to mechanics., Despite her rather unsocial attitude ..., etc.
    • I also am not exactly jiving with your repeated usage of the word nevertheless; adding that in there makes it sound like you're more editorializing than anything. I recommend substituting that for other words.
  • Watch colloquialisms like ... he acts like a mother hen ... as some may not understand what that means. Use easy-to-understand language.
  • Per WP:CAPTION, if the caption is not a complete sentence, it should not have end-punctuation.
  • The fair use rationales for the images need to be expanded upon, especially their purposes, in order to comply with the NFCC. Merely including "Illustrate wikipedia article/s" such as in File:Drei Stern.jpg is not enough.

That's all I have for now. I've reassessed at List-Class as this is a list. –MuZemike 22:45, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

All right, I have started the updated version in the sandbox found here, and also note that the Anime WikiProject's assessment departments denotes list articles as start class if they are not a standalone list. Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 23:24, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I just brought it up at WT:VG. Normally, when I see "List of ...", I automatically think "List-Class". Perhaps this should be moved to something like "Characters of Valkyria Chronicles"? –MuZemike 23:54, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
