This is a 7-week compressed online 1 credit course in Gen. Ed. area E (Lifelong learning), in which students will develop ability to determine appropriate info sources for a specific purpose, assess sources, evaluate those sources, use them to create a resource guide relevant to their own major/field of interest, apply information ethics to the whole process. Their Wikipedia assignment will come in their 2nd week. My learning outcomes for them with Wikipedia are: 1. understand criteria for high quality information in Wikipedia; 2. locate and evaluate articles relevant to their major/field of interest; 3. gain basic understanding of editing in Wikipedia in order to contribute (e.g., links to sources & citations) to those relevant articles; 4. and to discover the joy of participating in the Wikipedia community (that last is not so measureable, but I'm hopeful always!).
