This course provides students with the scientific foundation needed to understand and apply the principles of conservation biology to contemporary conservation issues. Topical themes of this course include patterns of biodiversity, human threats to biodiversity, extinction trends, and biological protection and restoration strategies. In addition, students will be asked to create a Wikipedia page for a species listed on the IUCN Red List as a semester project.
