This is a discussion based course focused on science communication. Participation, engagement, and respect for your fellow classmates is expected.

The learning goals for this course are:

Understand the history and current state of scientific communication, both scholarly and popular, especially in regards to the United States. Recognize power structures that influence scientific communication. Understand the history and current state of Wikipedia as a provider of scientific information to the public, and assess the ability of Wikipedia to communicate scientific information to the public.
