“Women Worthies” Atlantic History Showcase--in the first two weeks of class, you’ll choose one of the optional biographies about a “worthy woman” (an old-fashioned term used to describe women who made it into the history books, which I’ve used ironically to help us think about whose stories make it into historical consciousness, and why). You'll use that book as the main text for your investigations into What Historians Do (how we Read/Think/Research/Write) and how to adapt what you learned to better teach a Wikipedia audience who that woman was, within an Atlantic History context.

We're contributing to a larger Women's History WikiProject, meant to redress some of the persistent problems with Wikipedia’s gender imbalance. You'll learn how to engage with a huge reading public (anyone in the English-speaking world!), and also gain the technical know-how to participate in a crowd-sourced knowledge database.
