This is still one more Wikipedia categorisation scheme which is modelled after the Dewey Decimal System, but is structurally different and is designed specifically for indexing Wikipedia. Careful expansion of the system is encouraged, as per wiki principles, and it is therefore an evolving structure. Wikipedia project pages and article pages are both included in this system.
Rules of the System
[edit]The system works as follows:
- There is a minimal number of broad topics encompassing all other categories. This is the first letter of the category call code.
- Each broad topic has a minimal number of broad subtopics. This is the second letter of the category call code.
- The system expands in that manner to the desired specificity through the process of factoring and narrowing categories with too many articles in them.
Guidelines & Errata
[edit]- Each new category should be placed in the most specific place possible.
- People and organizations should be placed in the same category as their major accomplishments, such that William Aberhart will go in politics.
- A good example of how this should look is found in category A below.
- Articles should be placed in the most specific place possible; science would be placed directly into B, whereas chemistry would go under BA.
