Bugs, Repairs, and Internal Operational News

This is a summary of recent technology and site configuration changes that affect the English Wikipedia. Some bug fixes or new features described below have not yet gone live as of press time; the English Wikipedia is currently running version 1.43.0-wmf.2 (ce9d259), and changes to the software with a version number higher than that will not yet be active. Configuration changes and changes to interface messages, however, become active immediately.

Bots approved

One new bot was approved this past week:

• RM bot, operated by User:Harej – To maintain Wikipedia:Requested moves and related pages, taking over from User:RFC bot which has maintained the pages since May.

New features

• The ability to hide bots in Special:Activeusers has been added. (r59484, bug 20717)

Other news

• Developer Tim Starling has removed the JS2 (JavaScript, script loader) from the MediaWiki core, and put it into a branch so that issues with the code can be worked on. [1]
• Wikimedia configuration files at http://noc.wikimedia.org/conf/ are currently unavailable due to a server configuration problem. (bug 21680)
