Wikipedia:Wikipedia Takes Manhattan 2012

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wikipedia Takes Manhattan 2012 (WTM-4) was a scavenger hunt and photo contest that jumped off from Saturday September 15 at 3pm in Bowling Green Park, aimed at illustrating Wikipedia articles covering the wondrous sights of the isle of Manhattan (and everywhere else too!).

The walking tour went around many of the National Register of Historic Places sites downtown, on itineraries stretching in eccentric lines from Bowling Green (our starting point) to the Washington Square Park and NYU area.

The event was held in conjunction with NYC's celebration of Software Freedom Day, and all participants are welcome to join us afterwards for the Free Software / Free Culture party at NYU's ITP at 6:30pm (evening party is at Tisch School of the Arts at 721 Broadway).

No special wiki knowledge is required at all, just a camera and a love of the city!

This event was a sequel to three previous events, and is also part of the wider Wiki Loves Monuments USA.

  • --David Ludwig (talk) 17:33, 13 September 2012 (UTC) I just moved from Berlin to NYC and would love to come. Unfortunately, my package with my camera is still in customs & it seems pointless to join a photo hunt without camera ;-)[reply]
