The purpose of this list[edit]

I don't understand the purpose of this list. What use is listing the Acura MDX, of which we have deleted an unfree image, and omitting a different model of which we have never had a free or unfree image? We need a free image for each and have Wikipedia:Requested pictures for prioritization. It also seems to me that if everyone maintains this list perfectly, it will quickly become too large to be useful. ×Meegs 14:36, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Although I didn't initiate it, I believe the intention is that where an image has been deleted on the grounds that it is repeatable (and thus not meeting our 'fair use' standard) that there is a record of it being removed on those grounds and needing replacement. Wikipedia:Requested pictures is, generally, used for totally new pictures being required for articles, rather than a record of ones removed. --AlisonW 15:11, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Nothing wrong with requesting replacements for removed pictures at Wikipedia:Requested pictures, and I don't see the point in keeping a record of removed images just for the sake of it (and this list will never contain more than a tiny fraction of such images anyway). You would be much better off just slapping {{reqphoto}} (or one of the more spesific image request templates listed there) on the various article talk pages. --Sherool (talk) 09:41, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
