NUSC1P10 Professional and Therapeutic Communication

[edit]

This course provides nursing students with the opportunity to examine and discuss concepts, principles and practice of professional communication. Factors influencing the perception and interpretation of communication, including the use of self, are also included. Knowledge application and skill development is enhanced through practice labs.

As part of the course, students are working in groups to edit Wikipedia pages that are relevant to their learning (as assigned by the professor). Students will work in groups of about five to collaboratively edit content about communication within relevant Wikipedia articles. They will review other groups' work on relevant talk pages. Student editing will initially be done in the student group sandbox and eventually moved to the main article. Students will write a short reflective essay about their experiences using Wikipedia.
