ARTS 2570 is a study of contemporary art from the 1970s through to the 21st century, highlighting important global movements and critical ideas. We will examine the unique character and experience of global contemporary life, paying close attention to its social, cultural, and political contexts. Through visual analysis, readings, videos and class discussions, this course will address a range of themes present in various approaches to contemporary art including gender and sexuality, spirituality, migration, the environment, political dissent, language, memory and the body.
