The objective of this course is to cover the psychological and biological aspects of sleep and dreaming. We will discuss a number of topics such as states of consciousness, memory, biological rhythms, development, and disorders related to sleep. In addition you will gain experience in research methods related to sleep studies.

Objectives:

  • Understand the physiological and psychological principles of sleep and dreaming
  • Identify major brain areas involved in sleep and dreaming
  • Use personal data to understand sleep patterns and interpretations of dreams using current theories
  • Communicate scientific information to the general public while developing writing, collaboration, and oral communications skills


We are joining the APSWI Project to help APS achieve these goals and to learn valuable skills while looking deeper into the course content. By completing this project you will learn how to communicate scientific findings to a general audience, learn valuable writing skills, practice using proper citations, and work with collaborators in and out of the classroom. With the final reflection and presentation, you will also continue to develop your written and oral communication skills.
