TFA blurb review

[edit]

Sonic X-treme was a platform game developed by Sega Technical Institute from 1994 until its cancellation in 1997. It was intended to be the first fully 3D Sonic the Hedgehog game and the first original Sonic game for the Sega Saturn. X-treme was conceived as a side-scrolling game for the Sega Genesis. Development shifted to the 32X and then to the Saturn and Windows, and the game was redesigned as a 3D platform game, intended for release in December 1996. Development was disrupted by company politics, an unfavorable visit by executives from Sega of Japan, difficulties with the game engine, and illness among senior staff members. In place of X-treme, Sega released a port of the Genesis game Sonic 3D Blast, but did not release an original 3D Sonic platform game until Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast in 1998. The cancellation of X-treme is considered an important factor in the Saturn's commercial failure. (Full article...)

Pinging Red Phoenix; now we're doing blurbs for all articles promoted at FAC in 2018. Thoughts and edits are welcome. - Dank (push to talk) 04:11, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Dank: That looks pretty good; no suggestions at the minute. I’ll let you know if I see one later. I wasn’t really sure when this might be good to be a TFA since there aren’t any solid dates in the article other than to do it during the Christmas season some year (2021 seemed like the best as 25 years since the cancellation), but I’m all good with this going whenever, really. Popcornduff, that edit takes us down to 828 characters, including "Full article...". The minimum is 925. What would you like to add? - Dank (push to talk) 19:56, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Whoops. I've made some tweaks and inserted some information I think is worth including. Let me know what you think, guys. Popcornduff (talk) 20:19, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Looks great, and those are good judgment calls I think. Two technical points, both contained in my last edit: Main Page people insist on bypassing redirects, and it seems to be better to repeat prepositions if that will help avoid a garden path sentence. - Dank (push to talk) 20:25, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
