Image question[edit]

Elcobbola, would you consider the screen shots at Fight Club to be appropriate usage? It would help to give David an idea of what to do. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 21:12, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thoughts regarding FU images in Fight Club:
  • Image:Fight Club bar of soap.jpg fails WP:NFCC#3A, as bar is already present in the theatrical poster. The soap image is being used to illustrate the main marketing image, which is something already exemplified by the poster (and more relevantly, at that); a second fair use image is not warranted.
  • Use of two images to illustrate Visual elements is superfluous (again, per WP:NFCC#3A). Although Image:Fight Club fear center.jpg isn't optimal -- a main element (logo) is already depicted in the poster and it is a poor image overall (too dark, etc.) -- it's significance seems strongly asserted by the prose and prose alone could probably not describe the product of the methods/devices used. Image:Fight Club cigarette burn.jpg, however, does not appear to contribute significantly to our understanding (NFCC#8). The article's prose alone is perfectly adequate to convey the intended understanding/message.
  • I don’t see the “intended homoerotic presentation” in Image:Fight_Club_bathtub.jpg‎, but I'm willing to cede that "it's just me". The image is tied to the text and meant to illustrate the manifestation of the translation of a theme/sense from a written work to a visual work. I'm satisfied that prose alone could not accomplish this. ЭLСОВВОLД talk 00:29, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
