Why only Federal and State owned universities?[edit]

Good initiative. I was just wondering your motivation for scoping the contest to only "Federal and State Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education in Nigeria", why not just "higher institutions in Nigeria"?HandsomeBoy (talk) 11:37, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

HandsomeBoy The contest is intended only for Federal and State owned because they are automatically notable, this is to curb the issues of non-nontability of some private schools. Clarissagum (talk) 11:45, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Really?? I am of the opinion that Wikipedia guideline posits that if the appropriate accreditation body deems a higher institution of learning notable, then it certainly is notable. To understand your point, can you give me an instance where NUC deems a private school notable, and it is not notable by Wikipedia standards? HandsomeBoy (talk) 12:08, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
HandsomeBoy My bad, most of the previous contests I've seen focused only on Federal and State owned establishments, that's why I did same. Thanks. Clarissagum (talk) 12:21, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine. Wikipedia is generally soft on higher institutions of learning, as long as they are accredited by the appropriate bodies. It is professors and secondary schools that is more difficult and changes the dynamics. HandsomeBoy (talk) 12:25, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
