@Dmehus: Do you have a script with which to do this underscore stripping thing? I generally just pipe the link in order to hide the underscores from read mode, because I haven't got a more efficient way to copy the section anchor than copying from the URL bar... Deryck, no, but I wish I did. I installed DannyS712's PermaLinkSection script, which links to the anchor or section of the current or historical revision of page URL you're at, but the downside of this is it's not a wikilink in that the link won't be reflected as an inlink in What Links Here. His Easy-link script seems almost exactly what we want, but I can't get it to show up in my "More" menu as described. Not sure if it only works in article namespace, possibly? So, I just remove the underscores manually, which is a pain in the butt. ;-) Doug Mehus T·C 17:11, 24 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Deryck, DannyS712's Easy Link script does work, in all namespaces. I had a look at his source code, and though I don't understand JavaScript, didn't see anything in the code that limited it to a specific namespace. It's not in the "More" menu, though, but rather, in the left-hand navigation menu. Navigate to the section of the page you want to link to, then scroll up, click "easy link" (it'll appear to do nothing, but it's copied it to the clipboard), and then paste on the page you're editing (like this: Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2020 February 22#Warnstorfia exannulata). Seems to work pretty well and do the trick. We'd still need to have two tabs open, but that's not a problem. ;-) Doug Mehus T·C 17:28, 24 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
