Hovering over clock icon with mouse displays "float" instead of "Discussion in progress"

[edit]

At WP:RSP, hovering over a clock icon (such as the one next to CNN) displays the tooltip "float", instead of the expected "Discussion in progress". If this is easy to fix, we should take a stab at fixing it. Else people may not know what the clock icon means.

Also, this template is throwing the error Expression error: Unrecognized punctuation character "{".. Perhaps this is related? –Novem Linguae (talk) 02:48, 18 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ping Newslinger. Looks like you're the template maker :) –Novem Linguae (talk) 02:50, 18 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for pointing this out, Novem Linguae. I've removed the unnecessary "float" value. The "alt" parameter for images was not working as I expected, so I converted it into an unnamed parameter. I had not noticed this issue, since my use of popups made the hover text invisible to me. I'm going to fix this issue for all of the other templates and images used on WP:RSP. — Newslinger talk 21:45, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Newslinger, thanks for making changes. The hover text is now fixed. Just an FYI that the template is still showing an error though. "data-sort-value={{{1}}}|Expression error: Unrecognized punctuation character "{".{{{1}}}" Hope that helps. –Novem Linguae (talk) 10:44, 7 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, and I'm glad the hover text is working for you as well. The error in the preview on Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources/Last is caused by the if functions in the template combined with empty parameters. It's only cosmetic, and will not affect the table or any other page on which the template is used. It's possible to hide the error on the template page, but it would also make the template code slightly more complex. — Newslinger talk 08:35, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
