I don't believe that this problem merits the creation of a new namespace for it; I believe it's easier and more logical to keep temp pages attached to the articles they are aiding; article count just isn't that important for anything except press releases, and they're not checking to see how many are temp: it's such a small fraction that it doesn't matter. :-) Mindspillage (spill yours?) 09:06, 1 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Why not just move /temp articles to the talk namespace? This would prevent them having any effect on the article count. Angela . 10:50, August 3, 2005 (UTC)

Move: yes. Search: unlikely. With my 'bot writer hat on I'd say that it's difficult for a 'bot to actually find the pages. An SQL query to find the pages, and to output a simple whitespace-separated list of oldname/newname pairs, would be better than a 'bot. A simple page move 'bot could be driven from such a list. Is there a problem here in the first place?[edit]

Mindspillage says that the fraction of main namespace pages that are /Temp sub-pages is so small that the effect on the page count (which isn't that important anyway) is negligible.
