POTD overlap[edit]

Gog the Mild, Kavyansh.Singh has brought it to my attention that the same photo I selected for this TFA had already been chosen for the POTD. I think this image could serve as a nice alternative. In it's cold investigative sketch form, I don't believe it's too graphic and would result in a nice amount of clicks. However, if you disagree, the backyard photograph would be my second choice. ~ HAL333 16:42, 29 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi HAL333, I don't personally see the problem with having the same image at TFA and POTD. However, if you want to swap the photo, fair enough. As it is the assassination of JFK, I think we need an actual photo of the actual JFK. If we are not to use the iconic one, do any others of or featuring JFK spring to mind? If we can have the same image for both, I'm perfectly happy with keeping it as is. ~ HAL333 18:54, 29 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Just to add, I also don't have any particular issue with having the same image. But there will be folks arguing against it at error, and we should have an alternative decided. We can go with a simple JFK portrait. The immediate ones coming to my mind is this famous pic, or this one from Warren Commision's report. Just a suggestion, though. – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 18:56, 29 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I am aware of no policy nor guideline suggesting we can't, and see no common sense reason why we shouldn't. Obviously I am open to discussion on both of these; "sufficient unto the day ..." In passing, I would not be astonished if OTD ran with the same image. So, let us leave it for now, but ping each other if we spot it turning up anywhere as an issue.
