The license that you should choose is "Work of a U.S. government agency".

This will:

  • Fix the capitalization of the word "federal"
  • Change the "uploading" link to point directly to the Commons page for uploading U.S. government works, rather than having the user be asked again what kind of work it is
  • Change the fair use wikilink to point to Fair use instead of Wikipedia:Non-free content (this should be significantly less confusing) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Remember the dot (talkcontribs) 04:28, August 27, 2007 (UTC)
  • Correct the spelling of "license"

Done. Also, please be careful about source-code copying techniques. Copying the source code from the talk page would have screwed up a couple &nbsp; because they don't generate correctly inside a <pre> tag. Cheers. --MZMcBride 05:07, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, I didn't notice the nbsp problem before. Thanks for pointing it out – I'll keep that in mind in the future! —Remember the dot (talk) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Remember the dot (talkcontribs) 16:25, August 27, 2007 (UTC)

U.S. image copyright tags[edit]

{{editprotected}}

In Step 3 of the U.S federal government upload page can a link be added to one of these tag pages:

so that people can choose from a greater selection of copyright tags than are listed in the pulldown menu.

Also, in Step 3 can a note be added to copy and paste one of those tags to the bottom of the summary window if a tag can't be found in the pulldown selector menu.

Please see commons:MediaWiki talk:Uploadtext/fromgov#Copyright tags where this idea has already been discussed and implemented on the U.S. government upload form on the commons. --Timeshifter (talk) 13:44, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Look good? --- RockMFR 23:10, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Looks great. Might add something like this to the end of Step 3: Don't forget the {{double curly brackets}} around each end of the license tag! --Timeshifter (talk) 01:27, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

CDC photos[edit]

Could someone add the CDC public domain template {{PD-USGov-HHS-CDC}} to the "License" selection dropdown? -- Jrtayloriv (talk) 01:51, 17 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
