Games workshop discontinued games

There are major issues with a few articles. I stubified Mordheim after its been left for over 5 years without references, full of fancruft and lists of things (some of which are probable copyright violations) as well as copy pasted text from old websites violating WP:COPYVIO. That page needs attention but so do Necromunda, Man O' War (game), Space Hulk and others. These pages need to brought into line. A lot of info CAN be sourced be level of fancruft on these pages is way too high--Cailil ^talk 00:45, 19 August 2013 (UTC)

Robert Felt UK National Championship-winner 1990?

The article Robert Felt reads "In 1990, Felt became the first Scrabble player to win both the US National Scrabble Championship[4] and the UK Scrabble championship in the same year[...]" ... I can't find that anywhere. Sure, sites like this say the same, but the Association of British Scrabble Players lists Philip Nelkon as winner in 1990 (as does the wikipedia-article National Scrabble Championship (UK)), and the Felt Scrabble results at cross-tables.com don't mention the UK win, either. Halma board photo

I don't see the point of the box & rules to the side. (Makes it look like an eBay auction photo showing "what you get".) Also image is needs crisp focus. Also crop out any (non-uniform) miscellany at image perimeter. Ihardlythinkso (talk) 19:03, 19 September 2013 (UTC)

Authors (card game)

I hope I am doing this right .. I have been researching for over half an hour just to finally find this screen!

I am writing because the history on the page for Authors (card game) doesn't bear up. The page shows the first deck of playing cards, released in 1861, included Louisa May Alcott. This seemed odd to me since Little Women (1868), Alcott's most famous work, depicts a family living through several years of the Civil War (1861-65). Alcott did have one small publication prior to the Civil War, but was hardly a famous author with enough renown works to be part of the game. Further research showed me that Robert Louis Stevenson and Mark Twain, also listed as being in the original deck, had no publications until after the Civil War.

I don't know who was in the original deck, as I don't have one, but I am fairly certain these three authors were not.

I can't add any of these people to the site, because I know all of them. But it strikes me that good articles could be written about designers Antoine Bauza, Paul Peterson, Christian T. Petersen, Eric Lang, Donald X. Vaccarino, and Mike Fitzgerald, all of whom are quite well known in our industry. Just a thought. Vuoden Aikuistenpeli

There is no article for the Finnish board-game award the Vuoden Aikuistenpeli. It is not included in the List of Game of the Year awards (board games). The Vuoden Peli is awarded in three categories: Family Game of the year (since 1994); Children's Game of the Year (since 1994); and Adult Game of the Year (since 1999). From 1994 to 1998 the categories were just Game of the Year and Children's Game of the Year. The Vuoden Aikuistenpeli is mentioned in the 7 Wonders (board game) article, which was the 2011 Adult Game winner. It is not mentioned in the Alhambra (board game) article. Alhambra was the 2005 winner in the Adult Game category. It is not mentioned in the Ticket to Ride (board game) article, which was the winner in 2005 in the Family Game category. The winner in 2011 in the Family Game category was Forbidden Island (board game), which also does not have an article. --Bejnar (talk) 05:10, 8 May 2014 (UTC).

I hate to sound like a jerk, but since these games don't have articles, I would suggest you be bold and start them yourself. Even stubs would be better than no article at all. Board games are not my area of interest at all. I spent just a few minutes to garner that info. The reason I looked up the Vuoden Aikuistenpeli board-game award, was because I was thinking of putting Caribbean (board game) up for deletion, see below. It was listed as a nominee for the Vuoden Aikuistenpeli in 2005. I am not sure whether Vuoden Aikuistenpeli itself is notable or not as "the top board game award" in Finland, but I thought you all might know, or at least have an opinion. --Bejnar (talk) 16:14, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

Leaflet for Wikiproject Board and Table Games at Wikimania 2014

Hi all,

My name is Adi Khajuria and I am helping out with Wikimania 2014 in London.

One of our initiatives is to create leaflets to increase the discoverability of various wikimedia projects, and showcase the breadth of activity within wikimedia. Any kind of project can have a physical paper leaflet designed - for free - as a tool to help recruit new contributors. These leaflets will be printed at Wikimania 2014, and the designs can be re-used in the future at other events and locations.

This is particularly aimed at highlighting less discoverable but successful projects, e.g:

• Active Wikiprojects: Wikiproject Medicine, WikiProject Video Games, Wikiproject Film

• Tech projects/Tools, which may be looking for either users or developers.

• Less known major projects: Wikinews, Wikidata, Wikivoyage, etc.

• Wiki Loves Parliaments, Wiki Loves Monuments, Wiki Loves ____

• Wikimedia thematic organisations, Wikiwomen’s Collaborative, The Signpost

Liverpool Rummy

Dear Wiki Editors/Writers: Thanks for providing valuable information on so many topics. I have a question about one of them; i.e., Liverpool Rummy [1]. One of the rules of the game states, "The dealer deals a ten-card hand to each player. (In some circles, a 12-card hand is dealt...)". However, one of the "Objectives" of the game (in Deal #6) is to achieve: One Set of three cards, and Two Runs of four cards. As you can tell, this Objective requires at least 11 cards. Can you confirm that a 10-card deal is correct and/or can you confirm that a player would be required to "buy" a card in order to have an 11 card hand? Reliable sources?

Looking through BoardGameGeek's list of linked reviews/articles/podcasts for a game currently at AfD: Terror in Meeple City (BGG page, AfD). As expected, a number of the sources are not in English. What do people think about which should/should not be considered WP:RS? What are the really well known board game websites internationally (and for that matter, what are the reliable sources in English for those of us less familiar)? Hobby Games: The 100 Best

It looks like someone (or multiple people) have gone through and added notes to the games in this book, and the designers who commented on them. They did not get every game, so I am going through them one by one to make sure we have at least something from the book on every game article. Hopefully that will help build the articles that are in better shape, and add notability to those which are not! This concerns articles in both the BTG and RPG WikiProjects.

It is a big job, so anyone that wants to beat me to it on any of these is more than welcome! Each game gets 2-3 pages of commentary, so there is plenty to work with but I am trying to at least get a minimal effort on each one. 65.126.152.254 (talk) 21:31, 21 January 2015 (UTC)

Be careful with those additions when I look at the book on the catalogs it lists this book as a collection of essays and even by your own words, "commentary" these may not be considered reliable sources. A review of a product does very little to establish notability and essays even less so. Adding them to the articles does no harm, I am simply stating it does not necessarily establish notability. - McMatter ^(talk)/_(contrib) 22:33, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
