WikiProject Homepage

Hi I don't do much but I am apart of the project I was looking at the project homepage the other day and I believe it could use a redo. I did the same thing almost a year ago for WikiProject Oklahoma and would be happy to do the same here for this project as well if you would care to let me. Ill give you an over view of what Ill do, Firstly I will create a subpage where I will create the new layout. There I will organize everything into easy to read sections and place anything that would make finding things for the project easier. After that's done I will allow others to take a look and change anything that needs to be changed. After its done and I'm giving finale permission from the project I will begin to implement the change over. Season of Champions section

I just noticed that the non-bold "Season of Champions" events on the Season of Champions section aren't really Season of Champions events. I temporarily marked them as "CCA-recognized events," but that doesn't sound very adequate. What should they be labelled as? Prayerfortheworld (talk) 01:49, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

They are former Season of Champions events. In 2004, the CCA dropped the Mixed & Seniors as SoC events, but picked up the Canada Cup & the Continental Cup. I think when I created the template, I was kind of confused about what was SoC and what wasn't, as the the change had been more recent. -- Earl Andrew - talk 02:48, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

I'm just not sure if they should be considered "Season of Champions" events, and I'm not sure what to call them if they shouldn't be considered Season of Champions events. What do you think they should be called? We put all those events under the "Season of Champions" section and bolded the actual SoC events for last year's season; should this change? Need a bonspile draw sheet

List of WCT teams

Should this list be: 1) placed on one article and updated yearly? (as it is now: List of teams on the World Curling Tour), 2) placed as a subpage of or a separate page from each curling season and dedicated to that season only? (e.g. have an article "List of teams on the 2011–12 World Curling Tour" and list teams for only the 2011–12 season there), or 3) be merged in with the main season page? Great Lakes Curling Tour on curling season page

Should the Great Lakes Curling Tour be included on the 2011–12 curling season page? It's supposed to be working with the WCT, and some WCT events are in the GLCT as well. Of course, this raises the question of event notability as well, which would also affect WP:CURLING/AG. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 01:07, 30 July 2011 (UTC)

Article quality/importance

I really think we should set some guidelines for the article quality and importance assessments (i.e. the {{curling|class=XXX|importance=XXX}} stuff). I don't know about you, but I'm getting a little confused about what to rate for class and/or importance. New Order of Merit for WCT

New Olympic qualification procedure

Curler Notability Guideline

I missed the full discussion that was on the Sports notability page (just saw this), but I have a question about whether simply having competed in a World Curling Tour event really makes you notable. The vast majority of players at a lot of these events aren't at the elite level. Sometimes they're good club teams looking for a challenge, or even sometimes pulled from the local club to fill out an event. If you look, say at Golf, simply being in a PGA tour event doesn't make you notable, you either have to be "on the tour" (and the WCT doesn't really have an equivalent for that) or do something worthy. If curling is going to have a notability guideline related to the WCT, really I really think it should be something like competing in a WCT Grand Slam event. Those are the curlers you can really consider elite and potentially worthy of an article. Not people who finished 1-4 at some cashspiel that their team wanted to try. Results in WCT events

International Curling Federation

German To English

Stubs That Aren't Stubs

I have a question. While looking through the articles classified as stub-class, I discovered some articles (such as Curling at the 1998 Winter Olympics) that obviously weren't stubs. However, when I checked the edit history, I saw that the articles had been extensively expanded long after the articles had been classified. Moreover, these articles weren't marked as stubs with the stub template; it was only on the discussion pages. This brings me to my question: is there a process for reclassifying articles' importance and/or quality, or are Wikipedians supposed to reclassify whatever they see fit? I know Wikipedia is free for everyone, but isn't this a bit anarchic?--Peacock28 (talk) 05:08, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

You know, I've tried to make a push to set standards for article ratings, but no one has responded... so without a standard, it really can be quite anarchic. Recently, no one on the project has been really doing ratings except the people that are active. I usually just classify articles that need work as stubs and articles with decent content as start-class, but I haven't done anything else after that (C/B-class, etc.). I would say that if they're not stubs, just change them to start class. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 07:12, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

First question: What about articles that are as complete as they will ever be, even if they aren't very long? If an article is about a minor curler who hasn't gone to many tournaments, then the article won't get very long before we run out of information. If that happens, is it accurate to mark it as "start-class," even though the article is finished? Second question: I changed some of the articles' quality ratings, but the table on the Wikiproject page still has them as stubs. Does it automatically update after a certain period of time, or does someone have to tell it to update?--Peacock28 (talk) 21:56, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

Inactive Participants

A significant percentage of the participants in this WikiProject haven't made any edits on Wikipedia in months, or even years. Look, I've been registered on Wikipedia for under a month. I don't know that much about how any of this works. I'm not going to unilaterally create a periodic collaboration. I need actual feedback. Saying "That's a great idea, we should do that" doesn't count. I appreciate the help I've received from some of you (particularly Prayerfortheworld), but I honestly don't know what to do here. Should I wait and hope that someone creates a collaboration? Should I do it myself, and hope that other people join me? Should I drop the idea altogether? I don't know. Improvement for World Curling Championships

I've brought this up here before, but I think that the World Curling Championships page needs a pretty big overhaul. We had a good discussion going on, but I think we need to figure out how to organize the page before we go about revamping it. Of course, I've always thought the option of creating separate sub-articles for the men's and women's Worlds may be a good thing to do, since it will allow the World Curling Championships page to be a "summary" page of all the world curling championships (i.e. men's, women's, mixed doubles, wheelchair, seniors). Going along with the "summary" page idea, I also think there needs to be sections dedicated to the mixed doubles and seniors Worlds, as well as an expansion of the wheelchair curling section, which was just tacked on by an editor outside of WP:CURLING in order to have something there to work with. But, I'd like to discuss with the rest of WP:CURLING, since it might help to make the article an even better page. Thanks. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 19:44, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

I went through a few of the pages for World Championships in other sports (athletics, swimming, gymnastics, and figure skating in particular) and I actually found their pages to be much longer and, in the case of figure skating, for cumbersome to read. I do agree with the current link to the Wheelchair Curling section and I believe Mixed Doubles should have it's own page as well. This would be consistent with Track and Field which has separate pages for their Outdoor, Indoor, Cross Country worlds among others.--MorrisIV (talk) 03:30, 29 February 2012 (UTC)

Skips

I concur. I believe the list is long, but we shouldn't trim it to the top ten for each gender. I like the current division into decades, but I believe that the 1990's and 2000's is too long (and the 2010's could potentially become too long as we move through the decade). I propose that we include all Olympians in the list, particularly medalists. Also, any skip who won the Brier or the Hearts should be listed. How about this: We split off the full list of skips to a separate article, but leave a list of very notable (Olympic Medalists, Brier/Scotties winners) in the current article with a link (one of those See also or Main article subheadings) to the full list. WCF Hall of Fame

The World Curling Federation announced a new WCF Hall of Fame at the general assembly in Basel. I think that people in the WCF Hall of Fame will probably merit notability, so I'm going to propose an addendum to provision #10 of WP:NCURLING, which will read: "Is a member of the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame or the WCF Hall of Fame." Medal/champion tables

I feel like there should be a standardization of the champion tables, such as those in the Tim Hortons Brier article or the List of men's World Curling champions article and related articles. There are, as it seems, two types of full-team documentation: 1) a list of people separated by commas, such as the one at Canada Cup of Curling#Winners, and 2) a list of people separated by line breaks, such as the one at List of men's World Curling champions. I also feel that the flagicon sizes should be standardized across these champion tables. I just want to hear the opinion of fellow editors on how these two issues should be treated. Thanks! I prefer this format. The Tim Hortons Brier format isn't bad, until finalists begin to get listed and then teams are listed on multiple lines and sometimes the first name appears at the end of one line and the last name at the beginning of the next line down. Yes, that is a minor aesthetic observation, but the way the World Curling champions are listed makes it much more legible. As for flag icons, I've never noticed that being much of a problem, except for the Swiss flag which has a slightly different size than most flags. Overall, I don't think there needs to be a stand flagicon size, as long as the flags are the same size through the same chart, infobox, etc.--MorrisIV (talk) 01:22, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

In terms of my personal opinion, I would prefer to see regular-sized flagicons, since they are prevalent across the WikiProject. I'm not a fan of the larger flagicons; they just seem unnecessary and, at times, inappropriate. For the champion tables, I really am torn between the two types. On the one hand, the list separated by commas is good to save length for the table, but adds width, while the list separated by line breaks does the opposite. Though I can't decide between the two, I think that using only one would be better than using both, since it's a little messy if both are present, especially in the same article. Thanks! World championship qualifying

On world championship articles, that list qualification procedures, one of the countries is regularly shown as qualifying as "defending champion". I believe that pages from 2009 onward have qualification explanations. However the current rules (both WCF and ECF) do not agree, is there any evidence that it was true for any of them?18abruce (talk) 17:47, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

Well, be careful though. Regards, from an observer, about several articles within the project's scope

Hello there I was navigating though Random as usual when I came across a Curling related article, and it seems that all the articles have the same format. Content, unsourced, spammed with red links, text, tables, order and everything that don't comply with Wikipedia Guidelines, I'm not familiar with the subject to verify its content or notability, but so far, a lot of content presented in the articles pose as POVs or OR. So the question is anyone willing to help on on sourcing this articles, or should I go along with WP guidelines and remove contentious material about curling that is either unsourced or poorly referenced. While I agree that there are issues with a lot of the pages (many are old vestiges from when referencing wasn't as strictly enforced as today), I do disagree with the red link issues. Most if not all the red links are notable under WP:CURLING, as well they are helpful when doing research on new articles. I like to use the "what links here" for new articles on curlers to find out what major events they've been in. Removing those red links makes it harder to write complete articles. World Curling Tour

I think there may be a mix up on two lines of the World Curling Tour but I'm not sure. In the men's section it says that the Canad Inns Prairie Classic is hosted by Kamloops, British Columbia and the Labatt Crown of Curling (a redirect to Valley First Crown of Curling) is hosted by Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. Category:Bonspiels relisted

I have relisted the discussion on Category:Bonspiels at 2013 December 17, with the following request for clarification of a point of fact:

There is a consensus that the two categories should be merged if they have identical scope. In that case, the head article is bonspiel, so the category should follow that name. However Vanisaac asserts that a bonspiel is a particular type of curling competition, and that there are other types of competition; but Earl Andrew asserts that the two are identical. To allow an informed decision, please can editors try to resolve this point?

Olympics results

I've put in a table of all the round-robin matchups for the Olympics at the Curling at the 2014 Winter Olympics page. I would appreciate help in keeping the results updated throughout the Olympics, since I am in the Pacific time zone and facing probably the longest tape delay on the planet. Also, I've put up the announced US broadcasting schedule in my user space at User:Vanisaac/curling. The results on that page get updated automatically when the main article does, so only go there if you actually need to know when matches are going to be broadcast. This information has been linked from the Reddit /r/Curling community, so there should be other eyes out there, but I figure more is usually better in these circumstances. Teams

Is it possible that we could remove the events column and just have the members of the teams and the corresponding years? Also I have been working on creating a team table for every single curler that has a Wikipedia page. Flame6264

Although I'm no fan on the biography boxes on the upper right side of most pages I appreciate their use for curling. Canadian Junior medals in medal tables

A while ago we decided against doing this, but some of our newer members have decided to start adding medals won at the the Canadian Juniors to the medal tables on curler articles. Turan Akalın?

Hi, I'm an editor at Project Tennis with a question about Turan Akalın. His bio appears to be all wrong in it's tennis aspect since the only Turan Akalın listed by the International Tennis Federation has never won a sanctioned event. So he is not notable for anything tennis. If it was only for tennis the article would be deleted, but I see he has curling in his background also. What I don't know is if he fits wikipedia curling notability requirements. If he does that's fine but it should be written with his curling attributes in the lead with a passing mention that he has also competed in tennis. sponsors in titles

Hi,

I'm just wondering the use of Ford in titles for World Championships when in Canada. I don't think that it should be in the title and have seen in other sports where the sponsor is avoided in the title like in Football League Cup. Why is it there and can I get a good reason why the title is mentioned? I don't see why a company should get preferential treatment here.Soopafred (talk) 17:24, 20 November 2015 (UTC)

What about KFC Twenty20 Big Bash in cricket? It can go both ways on Wikipedia. For some events, such as the Worlds, the sponsor is an integral part of the name. For example, it used to be called the Air Canada Silver Broom. Dropping Air Canada would just be Original Research in my opinion. Anyways, we've discussed this topic in depth several times. Though for things like the World Championships, the sponsor is only there when the even is in Canada. I think it shows a lot of homerism that way. If all World Championships had the sponsor put in the title, I wouldn't have a problem with it, but nobody would put Zen-noh world championship. That's the big discrepency. If sponsors were in each title for the World Championships, I wouldn't have a problem, but they aren't. Only when the event has a main sponsor present in Canada. Please check the facts first Soopafred. No homerism if you look first. If you look back at the actual title of the championships you will find that you are wrong. Ford is featured directly in the logo for Canadian and American hosts of the men's, Capitol One (or Mount Titlis) is featured regularly in European hosted championships. I don't know why Zen-noh wasn't used in the title, or why the 2013 Latvian championships chose not to use the sponsor in the title, but it appears (from a sampling of 15 recent championships) to be one of the exceptions. Please look and you will see that the sponsor is usually an integral part of the title regardless of the host nation.18abruce (talk) 16:46, 22 November 2015 (UTC)

I Just think that it's harder to track down the year, because you need to know the sponsor which changes pretty much every year. Should it be mentioned in the title, I don't think so because I have to ask myself who was sponsoring a World Championship in year X to find where I can find it quickly. Oh wait in year X, a new sponsor makes it unfindable. It should be at the very least redirect to the sponsored title to make sense though. "Old-style" links to WCF curlers database page

Hello! Is it "a big problem" or not? (I think - yes)

I see that there is some (big? not?) number of articles about (Canadian; maybe for curlers from other countries? I didn't look...) curlers who plays (or played) on international level in WCF sanctioned events - and about such person link in article to WCF database wrote as:

But such link producing "404 error" (redirected to "404 page" on WCF results site - "Oops!.." and so on; to here - http://results.worldcurling.org/Error/NotFound?aspxerrorpath=/Person.aspx).

Correct link must be as:

http://results.worldcurling.org/Person/Details/5928 (for Emma Miskew)

I.e. player ID (5928) is equal - but previous part of link is wrong...

Today I looked to "search page" ("People") on WCF results site (http://results.worldcurling.org/Person) "through web.archieve.org" - when link system was change?

Answer: 1st "shot" of this page was made 30 March 2015 (look at http://web.archive.org/web/20150330002402/http://results.worldcurling.org/Person ).

And after this date all "old-style" links will be incorrect :( and someone who want to look to WCF database about Emma using this "old" link - will get "Oooops!..." only (and no other "automatic help" - something like little conversion script on WCF site: if "old-style" link recieved from user - let's easy extract ID and add to end of "new-style" link sample). We, Wiki-editors, haven't urgent problem at this minute - but that someone (reader - man or woman, - for whom we're working) has...

I think you understand what I try to explain (with my "Siberian English" ;) )? I think that is a problem for (many?) "old" articles...

We have a template ( {{worldcurling|####}} ) that we use on most pages that we can change every time the WCF restructures their site (the Player IDs normally stay the same). Curling hoaxes

I have deleted as hoaxes three very detailed pages from a fairly new editor, Jmac curling (talk · contribs):

• Royal Jordan Curling Cup - detailed results tables going back to 2010.
• U-18 Royal Jordan Curling Cup "Welcome to the offical wiki page of U-18 Royal Jordan Curling Cup!"
• Royal Jordan Curling Championship "The Royal Jordan Curling Championships Is Held For The Teams That Came Runner-Up In Their Coutries And Didn't Get A Chance To Go To The World Championships."

I am 99.99% certain that this is another case of someone who just likes making up fantasy result tables, because there is absolutely no confirmation to be found online, and the tables and teams bear no relation to what I read in 2016 World Men's Curling Championship. (Jmac's list of teams is much more comprehensive, with entries from Ethiopia, Madagascar and Haiti among others. In his 2016 final, Turkey beat Finland.)

I am writing here for two reasons:

• in case the 0.01% chance has come up and these things are real, in which case I will apologise to Jmac curling, but will not restore the pages unless a reliable, published source is produced for verification;
• because Jmac curling has also been editing existing pages like 2015–16 curling statistics and somebody who knows the subject should check what he has been up to there.

The only reason these pages were made was it was upon request by the teams who have played in the tournaments that they would like the results online. Which I was hired to do (as a volenteer(not paid)). I spent hours and hours of work on these and would appreciate it if you could restore. In relation to the 2016 World Men's Curling Championship teams must qualify from regions (2 from North America and South America, 2 From Asia and Australia and 8 from Europe) the teams that didnt make it to worlds participate in the Royal Jordan Curling Cup as well as coutries that qualified to worlds.

Real or not, I've never heard of these events, so they're probably not notable, and therefore should be deleted. It sucks to spend hours and hours of time on an article, only to have it deleted, but we've all been there. Why don't you spend your time making constructive edits on actual notable curling events? I am planning on moving Mixed curling article to Mixed doubles curling, since that is the entire content of the article. Given that there is no article on "Mens curling" or "Womens Curling", I don't think there is a need for a Mixed curling as an article. Just noticed that, despite the rule book saying, "When teams are tied for a play-off position, team(s) shall be eliminated without playing an extra game, as tie-breaker games will not be played" there are tie-breakers in the schedule for the olympics. None of the current WCF championships use the page playoff system anymore either, but it is still in the rules. The thing about the tie-breakers is that the rules specify that they are not to be used in any of the WCF tournaments, which includes the olympics. Yet they are scheduled. Missing data for 2007 Pacific Curling Championships

I just noticed that in the 2007 PCC article, the scorecard for China vs New Zealand in the Men's competition is incomplete. I attempted to rectify this, only to find that the World Curling results database has the same issue. I understand that this data is reasonably expected to be missing and forever lost for fairly old events, but in an international championship from just a decade ago (especially one in which every other match has full data available!), it seems unlikely that in this one specific match no-one remembered to write down the score. Article quality/importance

I know there have been discussions about this in the past, but I'm not really sure what the guidelines around quality/importance ratings are, or who can change them and when, but I'm pretty sure there are many curling articles out there that have had many changes made to them since the last time the quality/importance ratings were updated and should probably have a different rating (e.g. the article on Kaitlyn Lawes is currently rated start-class). Grand Slam Record Tables

I noticed that, in the tables for Grand Slam records (in skips' articles), some results have links to the corresponding Slam and others do not. (Example from John Epping's Elite 10 results shown below, where "QF" for 2015-16 and 2017-18 have links, but not "Q" and "SF" in the others) Is this random, and is there a guideline for whether or not there should be a link?

As far as I've been able to tell it's random; I always try to add the links whenever I update those tables, but it would seem they are often left out. Table "Teams and events"

Is this table useful? In player's articles in section "Teams and events" table with "whole curler carrier - from schoolteams to seniors": seasons, line-ups (coaches too! they worked hard too), events (include national champs/cups/trials), places. For example look at "Zsolt Kiss (curler)" or "Lee Merklinger".

Please, anybody say to "Boleyn" about "links to WCF and WCT databases are sources about curlers and curling events!" Look at here. It's clear "vandalism" I mean. Boleyn wants you to add more references that aren't just from the WCF and WCT databases. Technically articles on living persons need to have a few references from proper reliable sources that aren't just from databases. I've noticed that Bolenyn has been monitoring your edits quite closely (and I think s/he has crossed a line in the past to the point of bullying, to be honest), so you might not be able to escape his/her watchful eye without going through a formal complaint process. In the meantime, I recommend doing more research on your new articles so they have more information than just a list of teammates. For example, look at the additional reference I added to the article on Lee Merklinger, and how I expanded the lede a bit. -- Earl Andrew - talk 16:41, 15 November 2018 (UTC)

Canadian Junior Medals...

I believe this topic has been discussed many times in the past, but just to clarify (hopefully for once and for all), are national junior medals supposed to be included in curler infoboxes? Many curlers have them (Kaitlyn Lawes, Shannon Birchard, Selena Njegovan, Jocelyn Peterman, the list goes on), but many others do not, and there is quite an inconsistency there. I see no reason why they should not be included in the infoboxes. In the curling world of Canada the junior championships bear enough notability for coverage in most of the major local and national media as well as with national sports broadcasters. I would vote for include and amend in Wikipedia:WikiProject Curling/Article Guidelines#Medals Tables. 17:14, 3 January 2019 (UTC)

In fact if you look at it closer it does not make any sense based on what the article guidelines are. The Canada Winter Games is included but includes inferior competitive curlers and also includes the Arctic Winter Games but not junior national championships? Bizarre. Both the Canada Winter Games and Arctic Winter Games are primarily junior competitions but again feature inferior competition. These events feature little to no coverage by local or national media or sports broadcasters.

The biggest beef of all I have is the Canadian Olympic Trials. This has no business being in the infobox in my opinion. Particularly because it is placed under the provincial medal list. It makes no actual sense why this is included as a provincial medal as these competitors are not competing in an interprovincial competition. This is a national competition. While this is a particularly noteworthy competition every four years it has no bearing on a provincial or national medal. These should rather be included in a list of results or notable wins, but these medals are not awarded to "Ontario", "Manitoba", "Newfoundland and Labrador", or any other province or territory for that matter.

One other problem with the infoboxes and one that has been ongoing is what to do with all the infoboxes in the wakes of all the changes to the national competitions. Some curlers have had their infoboxes that show medals with them as competitors for "Canada", "Province", and even "Wildcard". It can get very messy on some profiles, it seems as though this has been discussed before or others have been working to streamline it to the single province, which in my opinion makes sense. It is still a big question as to what the meaning of these national competitions are even more. Are the a competition between provinces or the best qualified teams. I do agree that the Canadian junior championships are definitely more notable than the Canada Winter Games and Arctic Winter Games. I guess I will leave things as is until a resolution is reached. I do think that the trials are pretty important and therefore should have a spot in the infobox, but maybe in a section more like the current sections for Olympic appearances, Worlds appearances, Grand Slam victories, etc? Ya I would agree with including the Trials as you discuss, plus I would add a section like the Grand Slam results and put Olympic Trials results in there. Perhaps even include a section for National and World championships there, again in a results section like the Grand Slams. Figure skating and gymnastic pages do something similar for BLPs. Ok, if enough people agree we could make a new infobox parameter for the Trials. About the section for the results (I assume you mean like the Grand Slam record tables), the only thing is that the Trials only happen every 4 years, so there wouldn't be a lot of data in those tables. It would take a lot of work to update a lot of articles if we also did a section for National and World championships, so I'm not sure if it's worth the effort, especially since we already include medals and number of appearances in the infoboxes. I'm not against the idea, but I'm not sure if it would be worth our time for the number of people participating in this WikiProject. I think the general idea behind the medals list in the infobox was "does this event hand out medals", which for the Arctic Winter Games, and Canada Games is a definite "yes", and I believe the Olympic Trials do as well. Historically, I don't think the Canadian Juniors have given out medals, but I believe they do now (this is not something I'm 100% sure on, though). Personally, I don't think think adding a table for Olympic Trials participation is necessary, but might be interesting to have in a career statistics table like I've done for Rachel Homan. -- Earl Andrew - talk 19:13, 3 January 2019 (UTC)

That makes a lot more sense now. It looks like they've given out gold medals for a while at least (as seen in 2018 and 2009) but I haven't really found anything about silver and bronze medals or any medals from much before then. The career statistics table is a good idea, and provides a lot of information about those who have them. With a bit of work we could add them to more curlers' pages, it might be more difficult for older events, but if they're notable enough there should be information out there that we could use. There is also the slippery slope issue of adding medals for the Canadian Mixed, Seniors, Mixed Doubles as well in the medal tables, and then for the Junior championships for other countries. Standings in double/triple knockout

How do you determine a definitive standings rank in a double or triple-knockout competition? I'm starting to make a career statistics table for Casey Scheidegger, and one of the pieces of information in the table is the ranking from an event, but the Alberta Scotties is triple-knockout, and most years of the competition (e.g. 2013) don't have a standings table. "Curling ice makers" (icemakers) or "Curling ice technicians" category

Hello all! Maybe one of us will create a category "Curling ice makers" (icemakers) or "Curling ice technicians"? They are very important persons in curling "business" - not less important than curlers or coaches or managers. (for example Hans Wuthrich (icemaker)) Add this category somewhere in Category:People in sports (or Category:Sports equipment makers?) and Category:Curling of course. Notability - Curling World Cup

The guidelines were instituted before this tournament existed, so not sure (if I were to re-write the criteria, I would lean toward 'yes', but considering the top prize was less than a Grand Slam, this could be debated). It did count as a WCT event, so the winners are notable. Are there any curlers who played in it that wouldn't be notable for some other reason? -- Earl Andrew - talk 16:12, 6 October 2019 (UTC)

I've looked into some of the curlers from the Curling World Cup, and it seems that some (mixed doubles mostly, but also some from 4-person teams) aren't notable under the current criteria. Examples include Yu Jiaxin, Wang Xiangkun, Malin Wendel, Fabian Wingfors, Cao Chang, Yuan Mingjie, and Zhi Ling. I'm sure there's more, but these are just a few that I found. I'm not sure whether I'd agree that they would all necessarily be notable, since many of them have really only participated in the Curling World Cup (and some in world juniors without medalling or on tour without winning events) and thus haven't received much media coverage.
