Worm and Stacey won the contest, but confusion with the scoring meant that Cwmhiraeth thought she had done enough to win it. The GA ruling wasn't clear, but the idea is that anybody who nominates an article for GA within the three days it should count towards the subcontest on the day it is nominated. As that applies to Day 1 and 2 two, it should apply to Day 3 also. The current wording seems to imply otherwise. So I'm going to crown Worm and Stacey the winner, but compensate Cwmhiraeth for the loss by awarding her 500 points (instead of 200 for second place) along with that given to Worm and Stacey because the current ruling seems to technically indicate that articles which pass GA after the subcontest can't count. It was a glitch in the GA ruling which I'll fix shortly. The leaderboard with ranking of editors will be maintained during each round and moved onto the next round once it is completed.♦ Dr. Blofeld 07:50, 18 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I know how frustrating it can be when rules get misinterpreted both from all sides, the organiser, the person who misunderstood and the person who did understand. I think the compensation is a good compromise while the rules are tidied up and clarified a bit, and I'd actually like to go further if it's all right with both Dr B and Cwmhiraeth and declare us joint winners of the round. The points match that, I think credit is deserved for the hard work too. WormTT(talk) 07:41, 18 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Worm That Turned: Well, it was very close, and you did both deserve to win it, but I didn't want to offend you or put you off from continuing!. It was another tricky situation with the ruling that I thought it would be fair to compensate Cwmhiraeth as the explanation for GAs and noms really wasn't clear. I've updated it so it should be clearer now. As long as you and Stacey are genuinely OK with Cwmhiraeth being a join winner. It makes no difference to points now anyway, and you're still leading the overall contest by a fair way.♦ Dr. Blofeld 07:53, 18 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's a very good solution. Stacey will be fine with it too, I'm sure. WormTT(talk) 07:59, 18 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I can't really do it though because you won by a margin of nearly 200 points, and then Sturmvogel could probably argue a similar thing for the Cornwall contest which he narrowly lost . If it had been under 50 points it would have been easier to do, but I can't really declare another contestant a winner when they were nearly 200 points short. I don't think Cwmhiraeth minds so much about the subcontest win as much as the overall score for winning the Challenge, so I think declaring you the winner of the Devon one but giving 500 points each is a reasonable compromise.♦ Dr. Blofeld 08:02, 18 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. The matter all turned on whether a GA had to be reviewed within the minicompetition, as the rules implied, or whether within 3 days of nomination, which seems more reasonable. As it happens, I started working on the GA-nominated article in question at much the same time as WTT and claimed it as a stub expansion, but after discussion moved on to a different article leaving WTT & S to continue with it. @Cwmhiraeth: I don't think I can give you the 200 points for the GA on that one though as it was Worm and Stacey who really did most of the work in promoting it.♦ Dr. Blofeld 08:10, 18 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I wasn't asking or expecting any more points. I was providing an explanation for anyone who didn't know what all this was about. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 08:20, 18 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
OK.♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:19, 18 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
