Akihiro Gono[edit]

Often seems to be spelled Gono, which is the correct surname? Was spelled Gouno on the last Bushido event --Ausmus 14:00, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sherdog has it as "Gono", so does PRIDE. hateless 05:13, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, It is Gono. Pride is known to make spelling errors here and there on the US graphics. (I changed it to the correct spelling). Skeletor2112 11:23, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Noah Inhofer[edit]

What happened to his page? (MgTurtle 16:29, 26 May 2007 (UTC)).[reply]

Edwin Dewees[edit]

Is his page no longer considered a stub? MgTurtle 05:13, 7 June 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Danny Abbadi[edit]

I removed his name because it is questionable that he is even notable enough to merit an article at all. Jdjohnson920 (talk) 06:31, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability[edit]

Mark Epstein's article was deleted for being "not notable." It appears that the only thing he has done since his article's deletion was lose to Matt Ewin (who also doesn't have an article) at Cage Rage 26. What is requirement for notability when it comes to MMA fighters? --jhanCRUSH 05:43, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

According to Wikipedia:Notability (people), a person is notable if they are the subject of published secondary source material (does Sherdog Fight Finder apply?). Also, an athlete is notable if they "have competed at the fully professional level of a sport," which surely includes the UFC and Pride and very possibly the WEC. Would a Cage Rage veteran such as Mark Epstein qualify? =jhanCRUSH 21:14, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Finding my own answers all over the place... according to the WP:MMA main page a fighter is notable if they have fought in an established, professional MMA promotion. I'm assuming Cage Rage and the WEC both count and both Mark Epstein and Marcus Hicks should be notable enough for an article. If you disagree or I missed something or I'm off-base at all, let me know... =jhanCRUSH 21:29, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Technically, per the current WP:ATHLETE, all professional fighters are eligible for an article, but as that includes many thousands of fighters we should try to only include the most notable. If you can make it a decent article about him then go ahead, but if it's only going to be a stub with a record table then I would advise against it. --aktsu (t / c) 03:02, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WP:NMMA[edit]

For the sake of the fighter pages that editors will probably spend hours working on, please only list fighters who meet the Wikipedia community's general consensus on notability. That means three professional fights with top-tier promotions, not including exhibition bouts or fights on The Ultimate Fighter. There has been some disagreement over the topic, but I'd hate to see someone build an article just to see it get destroyed in an AfD. Luchuslu (talk) 19:02, 13 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The current guidelines allow TUF fights to count, so until the group can agree upon a new consensus, they are good to go. I'm not going to do the article on Michael Hill but he does mean WP:NMMA so it is available for somebody to do. Willdawg111 (talk) 22:21, 13 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
