Please hold of using a banner until we can get the Germanybanner to include a munich parameter. Agathoclea 07:52, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

stubs up for deletion

This is notification that most of the stubs listed on the project page are up for deletion at WP:SFD. Please join in the discussion. Thank you. ~ Amalas rawr =^_^= 15:35, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Gallery

  1. Why do we really need a restriction like "...that have GNU Free Documentation License" - why are pic limited to a specific license? I think there is no need for that. Scriberius 14:42, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
  2. Why do we need a gallery? We have http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Munich with a good categorisation and quite a lot of media files. -- Scriberius 14:42, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

This is to help collecting photo resources. Eventually, I think it should go over there. Kingjeff 18:12, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Template merge?

As all the articles that belong to WikiProject Munich also belong to WikiProject Germany, I suggest to merge the templates so every talk page only needs to have one. This would not need to affect the operations of this project at all, only the talk page banner. I have just created a Mainz task force for the Germany project and have created a system of importance and quality categories for it that parallels that of the Germany project. For Mainz, it works simply by setting Mainz=yes and MainzImp=something in the {{WikiProject Germany}} template. You can see at Talk:Willigis or Talk:Georg Forster what the result looks like. If you are interested, I can add such a switch for Munich (say, Munich=yes and MunichImp=something) and provide a link to this project, just like it works for the New York City Subway project within the Trains project (see Talk:New York City Subway for an example of their templates). I think merging the templates could lead to closer cooperation between the Germany and Munich projects and less work for everyone. Kusma (討論) 20:07, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

I like the the main WikiProject Munich banner as is. Can we do this with the stub templates? Kingjeff 20:19, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

I don't quite understand what you mean. A switch of type Munich=yes in the Germany stub templates and a corresponding category would essentially be the same as a Munich stub subtype, and would probably be opposed and not maintained by the stub sorters. However, Category:Stub-class Munich articles gives you essentially the same info. In the future, I hope the toolserver will work again, and then it will become easy to see the intersection of categories again (like to see what is in Category:Munich stubs and Category:Germany structure stubs at the same time) and so the information corresponding to a potentially "too small" stub type will be readily accessible. However, the toolserver people have been promising that the toolswerver will be back soon for a couple of months now :-/ Happy editing, Kusma (討論) 20:46, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
I have merged the templates. Hope it all works, it not, please complain :-) Two examples are at Talk:Grünwalder Stadion and Talk:Munich. It should fit with the existing categories without any change, just using the Munich=yes and MunichImp=Top switches of the Germany project template. Kusma (討論) 22:41, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
Or, to be more exact, I have provided WP Munich functionality in the WP Germany template so it is no longer strictly necessary to have two templates. Another advantage of having one template only is that you won't have to adapt improvements from the Germany template, but they'll work for you automagically. Kusma (討論) 22:43, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Lets get the ball rolling in here

Here are some things you can work on. You can pick some articles to do from

  1. Stub-class Munich articles,
  2. Start-class Munich articles or
  3. the translation request page.

A lot of these pages don't have a lot in them and need a start.

If anyone knows any users in Wikipedia who might be interested in this project, you can send them a {{WP Munich Invitation}}. 22:03, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Well, it looks like a couple people have been able to help in translating a couple articles. Thanks to Boson for doing a real translation. He brought Dachau from a stub into a credible article. Maybe someone can check it out for grammer etc. Anyone willing to help out translating can go here. If you know anyone can help translate, plese put this {{WP Munich Invitation}} on there page Kingjeff 00:06, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

Shortcut

WP:MUC now redirects to the project page. Kusma (討論) 16:10, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

Sorry about the log

The 7 December changes here were caused by an edit to the project template that I didn't notice. It should be fixed now, and the bot should add the articles to the list again during its next run. Kusma (討論) 15:06, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Invitation

Thank you for the invitation but I have no time for this project, because there is a lot to do at the German Wikipedia. My cooperation with English Wikipedia is only sporadic and my English is not real good. --Kuemmjen 20:23, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Munich U-Bahn

I'll expand and create some Munich U-Bahn articles, especially the stations I use very often. There are also articles on important Junctions in the network missing. Feel free to help. Thelifeofbrian 19:47, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Good news - I got stuck on that project a few weeks ago. One of the reasons I stopped was the anticipated closure of U7 an U8. I wanted that to be out of the way first. Agathoclea 19:01, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
Really? U7 and U8 are ging to be closed? i thought they just will run on a different route. Thelifeofbrian 20:05, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
See this. Agathoclea 00:13, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks a lot. I'm living in Munich and I don't notice whats going on.....Thelifeofbrian 18:08, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia Day Awards

Hello, all. It was initially my hope to try to have this done as part of Esperanza's proposal for an appreciation week to end on Wikipedia Day, January 15. However, several people have once again proposed the entirety of Esperanza for deletion, so that might not work. It was the intention of the Appreciation Week proposal to set aside a given time when the various individuals who have made significant, valuable contributions to the encyclopedia would be recognized and honored. I believe that, with some effort, this could still be done. My proposal is to, with luck, try to organize the various WikiProjects and other entities of wikipedia to take part in a larger celebrartion of its contributors to take place in January, probably beginning January 15, 2007. I have created yet another new subpage for myself (a weakness of mine, I'm afraid) at User talk:Badbilltucker/Appreciation Week where I would greatly appreciate any indications from the members of this project as to whether and how they might be willing and/or able to assist in recognizing the contributions of our editors. Thank you for your attention. Badbilltucker 21:35, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
