Proposal for Style guide for NFL Draft Pages[edit]

I've suggested some proposed style outlines for the NFL Draft series of pages. These are based primarily on the 2000 Series of Draft pages used to clean up the style of the entire series by several users over the past few months..

There is some consistancy accross the series, but the sub sections are ofen organized differently.

Below is my original statement on Wikipedia:WikiProject National Football League/NFL Draft pages format page.

The current series of pages have all been closly formated to be similar.
Wikilink First occurance only, Tables sortable, Use of Full Team Names,
Use of Positions names not abbreviations, use of Short acceptable names of
Colleges. <ref>'s are a bit overboard in the most recent
draft pages (2000 and newer). 1936 - 1999 are very similar in style accross the
series. Obviously the later 200X Drafts have been Featured or A Class Articles.
Many of the early era articles are in need of much help in the Openings and expansion
of the Draft data (which is common through the 90's as well) This should be in the TODO list

Hall of Fame[edit]

I don't know if this was kosher or not, but I have added separate Hall of Fame coloring for a few years (while updating the list to include missing rounds), using the style from the NBA draft page:

|- | style="background-color:#CCFFCC; border:1px solid #aaaaaa; width:2em;" | | = [[Football Hall of Fame|Hall of Fame]]

It is nice to see HoF status at a glance within the table & I hadn't noticed the "compensatory selection" anywhere. Let me know if this is a problem.--Diogenes00 (talk) 01:15, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This Style Guide is outdated[edit]

This style guide documents a page layout that has been superseded by a new format which uses a series of templates. This new format simplifies page maintenance and allows editors to make layout changes (to the templates) which will automatically apply to ALL the pages. A good model for this new style is the 2003 NFL Draft article. This style guide should be updated to reflect this new page format.— DeeJayK (talk) 02:16, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
