Column for editors[edit]

Maybe add another column for editors to add their name who are working on the respective article. Lizard (talk) 17:21, 20 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Good idea. Done. Cbl62 (talk) 17:48, 20 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Was wondering if I'd be able to find anything for Bill Hewitt's college career, then realized luckily a certain someone had worked extensively in that area. P.S. I think Bill Hewitt (the Canadian radio sportscaster) should at least be a disambig page, no? Lizard (talk) 03:58, 23 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Difficult positions[edit]

You'll have to let me in on your secret to writing articles for non-skill players. I've only ever worked on backs and receivers because I don't even know where to start when it comes to a lineman or a defensive player. Lizard (talk) 17:59, 30 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There's definitely a challenge given the press focus on running backs, quarterbacks and wide receivers. It's still the same process for others, just have to dig a bit deeper for the coverage. If there's a player you'd like help finding coverage for, feel free to drop me a note. Cbl62 (talk) 18:17, 30 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Working now on Rosey Brown. Despite his being one of the greats in NFL history, it's not easy finding deep coverage for offensive linemen. And, as you know, many articles focus on stats, and offensive linemen don't have stats for the most part. Cbl62 (talk) 18:19, 30 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I do plan on getting to Mean Joe Greene, probably as soon as I'm done with the Million Dollar Backfield. Only Joe Perry left to go. It's not so much that I have difficulty finding information; I just don't know how to put info into an article if there aren't any stats to use as an outline. It's a habit I've been trying to break, since stats aren't inherently notable, not to mention pretty boring to read in prose. And Mean Joe played before sacks were official. Hirsch[edit]

Heh, you beat me to Hirsch. There's so many Michigan guys in the hall. LSU just has Taylor, Van Buren, and Tittle. Lizard (talk) 22:29, 16 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, great job on Hirsch. You never really know how much there is to write about a guy until you start writing. Lizard (talk) 06:56, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Liz. Cbl62 (talk) 15:47, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It might be worth noting that Hirsch had 173 yards and 4 touchdowns in Norm Van Brocklin's 554-yard game. Lizard (talk) 01:01, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Cbl62 (talk) 03:52, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

User:Aboutmovies' "assisted" article assessments[edit]

I'm not sure how to feel about these "assisted" article assessments by that editor. Whatever formula that script is using is way too generous in my opinion. On a few occasions I've actually downgraded his assessment of an article I worked on. What do you think? Lizard (talk) 15:57, 13 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • I haven't had problems with Aboutmovies' article assessments. There's always some subjectivity involved and some gray area between a B and C or C and Start. Cbl62 (talk) 14:59, 17 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Doak[edit]

Was wondering when you'd pick up Doak Walker. One of those players whose stats don't tell the whole story. Lizard (talk) 17:10, 8 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Indeed. It wasn't that he dominated in, say, rushing yardage. He's one of those guys who did everything well and found many ways to put points on the board. I will work on Doak a bit this week but may not finish right away as I'm leaving Monday for three weeks in South America. Cbl62 (talk) 17:29, 8 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
