Article tagging

Even though this project page has not even be created yet, many articles have been tagged. I used AWB to go through and tag those articles. This is in addition to some tagging I did on my own (some of these I'm sure are in the category but its possible others are not). There are currently 150 articles tagged. Assessment Table

On another note, since I don't know how to do it, I wanted to see if you would change the assessment table to show the importance of the articles as well, such as the one under Wikiproject Oklahoma. Its useful because editors may want to edit a more important article that may be rated as start class versus a less important article rated as B class, or something like that. I realize all the articles will have their importance rated as it would pertain to Wikiproject Oklahoma, but it would still be useful. Okiefromoklatalk 02:00, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Regional places listed under Task Force Tulsa

I have made some of the suburbs part of the task force, such as sand springs, jenks, bixby, etc. I think we should define how far we should go with this. In the definition of the task force I put that it includes everything in the Tulsa Metropolitan Area. This provides a definite boundary if we point to the actual Statistical Metropolitan Area and maybe the Bartlesville-Tulsa Combined MSA. So I believe we should work on getting the suburbs listed in the task force, but that brings up another issue. Do we include lakes, state parks, people from the suburbs, schools from the suburbs, etc? I say yes, because if the task force is going to help with Tulsa MSA topics it should include all topics. Looking through the categories of tulsa articles by importance I notice there is now a massive list of towns in Oklahoma listed under the task force, most of them are not even anywhere near Tulsa. There are also now a ton of articles listed under the taskforce of people who have no connection to Tulsa and places such as the blue river, with no connection to Tulsa. Many, many articles. Yeah, my fault. I fixed the issue (forgot a set of }}). Now I'm just waiting for the template change to propagate to the categories so I can rerun the bot and get the numbers back down.↔NMajdantalk 20:58, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Task Force Icon

Great job on the fixes. I believe we were at one point discussing the possibility of having a picture to accompany the phrase "this article is supported by the tulsa task force" on the talk page banner. Someone suggested the golden driller but I agree it is too dark. However, I suggest we just get a picture up there and we can change it later when a new picture becomes available. Since the GD is too dark, I suggest (Tulsa Skyline Night.jpg) even though it's at night. The other possible picture would be (Tulsa skyline.JPG) but because of its odd elongated shape it may be awkward to put in the banner. It is, however, taken at day. Maybe there could get some more suggestions or new pictures uploaded soon. We can always change it, so what to you guys think about just putting a picture up there asap? The image has to look good when reduced to a small size and I don't think the nighttime image of the Tulsa skyline does this. I really don't know if we have anything that would work. A daytime image of the Golden Driller might work, but it needs to be taken from a little ways away so its not looking up too much. There are some images of the outside of Cain's Ballroom here that might work.↔NMajdantalk 21:50, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
I honestly have no idea which one of those pictures would work best. Maybe you could experiment on the most likely candidates? One idea could be to use this picture and crop it to cut off the edges. I went ahead and did that and put it here. I hope you don't mind because it is your picture. But that is my only idea. Okiefromoklatalk 01:10, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
P.S.: If you croped the other picture of cains at day (the one showing the sign on the top of the building) in a similar way and made it square and centered on the sign it may work as well. Maybe see which one looks better? Your call. Okiefromoklatalk 01:30, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Nominating article for collaboration of month

There are five people who have listed their names for the taskforce so far. On that note, I don't know how much work will actually be done on a collaboration of the month, and I don't know when the rest of you even want to start having collaborations. However, I believe there are several articles that are pretty important in WikiProject Oklahoma and Taskforce Tulsa that I think desperately need to and should be improved greatly upon. After all, that's why this taskforce is here. So if anyone wants to vote or add other candidates to this list, please do so!

Yeah. I dont really like the idea of going from 12 collaborations a year to 4. There has to be an inbetween, maybe, 7 collaborations a year? But what would we call it, the Semimonthly Collaboration? List class

I noticed some articles were tagged as List class. I am opposed to classifying articles as lists and I did not set up the project to recognize things tagged as List-class. Why? Because is there is such thing as List-class. Per Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Assessment, there are only 6 classes: FA, A, GA, B, Start, & Stub. A list is still an article. It is in article namespace and should be treated as such. A list can also be FA quality, or B quality or even Start/Stub quality so it should be tagged as such. Anybody have any thoughts on this? If not, I'm going to re-rate the lists so they get put in the appropriate category.↔NMajdantalk 20:49, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

The Belvedere

I was thinking that the buried car might make a good separate article, now that it has been uncovered. Mention might also be made of the Plymouth Prowler buried in 1998 at Centennial Park (mentioned in todays Tulsa World). There is a start at Plymouth Belvedere. Dsmdgold 02:31, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Maybe it could be an article entitled Tulsarama, which was the actual celebration that included the belvedere being drawn up. Such an article may also have to include the other celebrations around it and the unveiling at the convention center, etc. Otherwise, what would the article be called, Burried Belvedere? We could at least make some redirect pages since most people dont really know what "tulsarama" is. Any ideas for what to call the article?
What to name the article was my problem, if I could figure that out I would have started the it. I was tempted by "buried car", but Buried Belvedere might work. Tulsarama has the advantage of being the name of the event where the car was buried (I think, the World had an article about the beauty pagent they did at Tulsarama in 57 a few days ago) Did anyone go down to the car show and get a picture of the rust that could be released under a free licence? Maybe we need some more opinions on what to call the article. As for the picture, we don't need a pic of the actual car they pulled out of the ground. Just find a picture of rust. Then a car. And the caption could read "The buried belvedere was a fusion of rust and car." Ok, lets just find a picture of the actual car, I think what I just suggested is probably a better fit for unencyclopedia.Okiefromoklatalk 04:17, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
How about the buried car? Anyways, I heard that they were going to bury another car in November in the same place. I think that we may have enough information to create the article. As for sources, we can use newspapers and buriedcar.com. --Μ79_Šp€çíá∫횆tell me about it

Shortening Tulsa, Oklahoma

Could someone please help me looking over the Tulsa article closely? We need to discuss some specific ideas on what to remove to make this article shorter. My goal is to get this article down to 85KB or below, but I could live with 87kb or so. But the key is to do it without detracting from its quality as a featured article. Thanks for your help. Changes to the WP:1.0 assessment scheme

As you may have heard, we at the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial Team recently made some changes to the assessment scale, including the addition of a new level. The new description is available at WP:ASSESS.

  • The new C-Class represents articles that are beyond the basic Start-Class, but which need additional references or cleanup to meet the standards for B-Class.
  • The criteria for B-Class have been tightened up with the addition of a rubric, and are now more in line with the stricter standards already used at some projects.
  • A-Class article reviews will now need more than one person, as described here.

Each WikiProject should already have a new C-Class category at Category:C-Class_articles. If your project elects not to use the new level, you can simply delete your WikiProject's C-Class category and clarify any amendments on your project's assessment/discussion pages. The bot is already finding and listing C-Class articles.

Wikipedia 0.7 articles have been selected for Tulsa

Wikipedia 0.7 is a collection of English Wikipedia articles due to be released on DVD, and available for free download, later this year. The Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team has made an automated selection of articles for Version 0.7.

This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). Okmulgee, Oklahoma page needs help!

Does somebody want to peek at the Okmulgee, Oklahoma page? Looks like it's been vandalized to me. The opening paragraph states that "Okmulgee means Forsaken or Foulest of Places in the Creek language." However, the cited footnote 4 indicates it means "boiling water." The paragraph also contains the sentence, "The site was chosen because the Creeks were forced to live there at gun point after the trail of tears." This again cites footnote 4, which link says nothing of the kind.
