The intro to this page makes no sense. For example, "This is a list of articles elsewhere on the site that contain sections about postal history ... and will soon be used the basis of postal or philatelic articles" "Basis"? "Soon"? "Sections"? Many of the philatelic articles already exist, as the list shows. If the point is just to list articles that have some discussion of stamps (& not neccessarily a section) where there's no corresponding phil. article, then many can be dropped as well as the entire right hand column. Early on I had been adding stub-sized philatelic info directly to short dead-country articles and the like. Since then we've tended to make even small amounts of info into their own articles, works better for categorization, assessment, etc. The goal here was to find all the existing bits and track them until the separate articles were created. Once all the dedicated articles exist, this page no longer has any use. The heading is a little obscure, feel free to expand on it. Stan (talk) 13:31, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like editors have been using this page in reverse also; that is, adding philatelic pages for a country (e.g., Postage stamps and postal history of Germany) where there is no discussion of stamps on the (non phil) country article. I see that some of these articles actually have more philatelic content than non-philatelic country content, such as Elobey, Annobón and Corisco (apparently the only thing that ever happened there worthy of note was stamps) or Niger Coast Protectorate (ditto). These should be either moved entirely to a proper philatelic title (as I just did with Postage stamps and postal history of Kenya, Uganda, Tanganyika) (that's a mouthful) or, if there is even minimal non-philatelic content, the philatelic content could be copied into a new phil. article. In some cases, the name does refer to a purely postal or administrative arrangement (like foreign post offices - "Postage stamps and postal history of the French post offices in the Ottoman Empire" seems a little redundant!), in other cases there is plenty of colonial info, just not in that article. Sometimes it's found in general "History of X" articles, oftentime colony details are simply missing, it being a somewhat specialized bit of history.
