The group indicated above was recently revitalized for, among other things, the purpose of working on those articles whose content is such that the article does not fall within the scope of any particular denomination. To most effectively do this, however, we would benefit greatly if there were at least one member from this Project working on those articles. On that basis, I would encourage and welcome any member of this Project willing to work on those articles to join the Religion WikiProject. Thank you. Badbilltucker 14:45, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Jaswant Singh Khalra

HI All,

A Request for comment - please see Jaswant Singh Khalra. I added an Unbalanced tag on this months ago, and now the main author wants it removed, even though IMHO it is still unbalanced. Please can a few people pop over and give their opinion, this article needs some outside influence. User:Lethaniol

Taj Mahal RFC

I've filed an RFC relating to the Taj Mahal at Talk:Taj Mahal#Request for Comment: Inclusion of minority points of view. Your comments would be most welcome. --Joopercoopers 11:10, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Woefully inadequate article

First off, I'm not a Sikh... but.

I thought the Jhatka article would have been a bit better. I cleaned it up a bit. I have a Sikh friend and I am interested to know what the average Sikh can and cannot eat. Thanks. Tenacious D Fans (talk) 18:14, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Articles needed

Hi. I see a few articles that we need. Obviously even quick stubs are better than nothing.

(These are all from Gurpurab.) Thanks. -- Writtenonsand 11:45, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

I think saroop could be added to that list. It's mentioned in Guru Granth Sahib, but no explanation as to what it is. Thanks! -Yupik 11:11, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
Some of those are already here - try removing punctuation and alterting spelling. E.g. Panj Piare or Asa di Var. 87.194.38.9 16:40, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

Need clarification on calendar.

Gurpurab says: "The birthday of Guru Nanak, ... usually comes in the month of November, but the date varies from year to year according to the lunar Indian calendar." I'd linke to link Indian calendar, but that page is a disambiguation page which links to:

-- Neither of these seems right to me. There's also a page on Sikh calendar. Should we change the text at Gurpurab to read "Sikh calendar"? Thanks. -- Writtenonsand 11:58, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Notifying edits to Gatka

I have been editing/expanding articles related to Indian martial arts for some time.
I found the Gatka article in this state and proceeded to edit it to this state.
The article was neglected despite being important to the Sikh faith and Indian martial arts. I thought I should notify my edits here.

Creating a guideline that applies to all religous articles

Please discuss this in a discussion here--Sefringle 03:22, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

New project proposal

There is a new WikiProject task force proposal at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals#Inter-religious content that is being proposed to deal specifically with articles whose content relates to several religious traditions. Any editors interested in joining such a group would be more than welcome to indicate their interest there. John Carter 15:09, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Improving article

Eastern religion is currently being improved. Please help bring this central topic article up to standard. Vassyana 03:55, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

I'm just a bit concerned about the addition of the logo on the corner to all the Sikhism pages. Has it been run past the members of the wikiproject? It's my understanding that at the moment only featured articles and protected pages have a logo in the top right hand corner. Any thoughts? Recurring dreams 06:17, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Categorization of articles

The guidelines for categorization at Wikipedia:Categorization#How to categorize an article, we are generally "placing articles only in the most specific categories they reasonably fit in." I have found that many of the articles relating to Sikhism are found not only in the parent Category:Sikhism, but one or more of its subcategories as well, which run contrary to this guideline and are also, to a degree, redundant. I am in the process of trying to get the majority of these articles to conform to the comment above. If anyone has any serious objection to my actions, they are free to revert the categorization. You won't get much help on this subject! Sikhs don't have any codified municiple law or anything like that.Their religious authority , Guru Granth Sahib contains the hymns and teachings of their Gurus.Matters relating to conduct of life and related matters are decided by Gurmatta and depend on individual choices. The Sikh religious system is not very rigid. It was founded to give life an opportunity to expand and not to encircle it.Ajjay (talk) 17:43, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Shaheed Bhai Haqiqat Rai

The article Shaheed Bhai Haqiqat Rai about the Sikh marytr has been tagged as a possible hoax, although from trawling around the net I'm pretty sure that it isn't a hoax the paucity of reference material in English has given credence to those who believe that its a hoax at worst and a "bed time story" at best. Can anyone with an understanding and an interest in this topic help add relevant details and references to the article.KTo288 11:38, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
