Final Fantasy X-2 FAC issues

I just brought up some issues about the Final Fantasy X-2 article on the talk page, and how it needs some good maintenance. I figured the best place to come to would be you guys. Anyone feel courageous enough to revamp a featured article promoted back in 2006? Famous Hobo (talk) 05:46, 29 July 2016 (UTC)

@Famous Hobo: Oof, yeah, that could use some cleanup. I'll see what I can do. It does appear to at least have all the information, just needs a lot of rewriting and adding refs. I think if we all try to do a bit, we can fix it back up fairly quickly. --PresN 14:39, 29 July 2016 (UTC)

Begging for a DYK review

Hey guys, I've been jammin on FFXIV: Heavensward for 8 months now and it's finally ready. I wouldn't normally do this, but I'd really appreciate a review at Template:Did you know nominations/Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward. I know I just put it up but I'm hoping to catch the 3rd anniversary of FF14's release (8/27) so it's a bit time sensitive. I'm willing to QPQ anything you like in exchange. :) Also, if there's an admin in the house, I'm still waiting on a housekeeping move at Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward. Axem Titanium (talk) 21:12, 19 August 2016 (UTC)

Looking nice! Withing striking distance of GA, I think. I'll see if I can get to a DYK review tomorrow or Tuesday. --PresN 02:05, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
Thanks! I'd been cooking it in draft for entirely too long. I'm going to give the plot section another pass before doing a GA nom. Axem Titanium (talk) 19:08, 22 August 2016 (UTC)

Tidus FA?

After making my first FA (from other project) I was wondering whether it was possible to bring Tidus to Featured Article status based on how it appears there is more out of universe than in-universe info. What should I ask for first, a peer review or a copyedit? Anybody could also help me? Regards.Tintor2 (talk) 23:43, 2 November 2016 (UTC)

Peer review first- maybe do a copyedit edit pass yourself beforehand, but there's not much point polishing the prose only to rewrite chunks of it afterwards. I think it's definitely possible to do, though you'll want to see if there's information that you can find that's not used in the article yet; also, the reception section (like so many characters) falls prey a bit to the "lists of listicles" phenomenom- instead of talking in flowing prose about how some critics find him annoying, there's interjections like "He was also featured fifth in 1UP's "The Top 5 Most Irriating RPG Protagonists"". Though it's still a lot better than many character articles, especially the ones on "hot" female characters that read like a bullet list of every half-baked listicle they've ever placed 12th on. --PresN 01:38, 3 November 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for the feedback as usual PresN. I tried rewriting some parts to avoid those "he was listed x by" and just using the prose.Tintor2 (talk) 16:11, 3 November 2016 (UTC)
Update. I made the peer review Wikipedia:Peer review/Tidus/archive1 and also requested a copy-edit.Tintor2 (talk) 15:17, 4 November 2016 (UTC)
Another update. Tidus' creation section uses this Flaregamer article. According to them, the original article was made in 2001 by Final Fantasy Online that has been archived. However, I can't seem to find Nomura's article about his works. Any idea? Regards.Tintor2 (talk) 02:10, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
Not really sure what you mean? They say that the article was from FFO, but was never published there; they also mention a few sources (unlinked), which means that original Nomura interviews are from V-Jump and Famitsu interviews, or from the FFX Ultimania(s). Looking around, looks like there's some translations of bits of the FFX and FFX-2 ultimanias, including one that might be useful to you from FFX-2 by Ryu Kaze, one of the founders of this wikiproject, amusingly enough, with page numbers. I didn't look that hard, though; when I did the FF13 FA, I found actual scans in Japanese of some of the interviews in those books and manually transcribed+google translated them, so I still get flashbacks. --PresN 03:20, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
@PresN: I mean if it's okay to use Flaregamer in an article that I would like to become FA.Tintor2 (talk) 13:35, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
Mmm, you might want to ask at WT:VG or WT:VG/RS; to be honest it might be hard to justify, as it appears to be just a multi-user blog (11 people) that post something a few times a year at most; no indication of fact-checking or editing. On the other hand, they do have interviews with people so...? --PresN 17:13, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
Thanks. Already sent it there.Tintor2 (talk) 17:24, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

Update. A copyeditor already finished editing the article while closed the peer review since even one commented did in my talk page. Do you guys think it's worth for FA material? I'm not entirely sure so I need answer or maybe a conominator. Regards.Tintor2 (talk) 21:32, 3 December 2016 (UTC)

Looks like you've gone ahead and done it, but I agree, not much else to do for it at this point but get more eyes on it. --PresN 15:48, 5 December 2016 (UTC)

Another update It appears the nomination is going quite well. Could someone make a source review? Praise be to-- I mean regards.Tintor2 (talk) 21:43, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

Another update A user already made the source review. Does the FAC need more attention or everything is going on well? Regards.Tintor2 (talk) 22:23, 15 December 2016 (UTC)

I'd say you don't have much to worry about now. Even if you don't get an outright support from GamerPro64, you've still got seven supports, plus an image and source review. I heard once that the mimimum number of supports needed is five plus image and source reviews. You're on a roll! --ProtoDrake (talk) 22:51, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
Final update: It became a FA. Merry Christmas! The promoter said something a link, but I don't get it. Regards.Tintor2 (talk) 20:06, 22 December 2016 (UTC)
@Tintor2: Congrats! He means that there are links that are repeated in the article- the same article linked multiple times. The script he linked can show you them. --PresN 21:05, 22 December 2016 (UTC)

GA/FA discussion regarding Final Fantasy XV

There is an important discussion regarding the possibility of making Final Fantasy XV a GA or an FA in the future. The discussion can be found at Talk:Final Fantasy XV#Possible GA/FA?. Input or suggestions from project members would be appreciated. Thanks, Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 03:55, 8 November 2016 (UTC)

Logo of Star Ocean

The logo used for Star Ocean: The Last Hope is used. However, later games use the different logo again, which was used for a few games prior to Last Hope. I found images of the logo. Does anyone have a photoshop application to create the logo without using backgrounds and subtitles? George Ho (talk) 19:20, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

Nine Twelve GAs to majority GA or better

Incredible milestone approaching, thought I'd mention it. Also, smallest number of cleanup tags and articles we have ever recorded. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 22:30, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

Long time no see. I hope the Flaregamer site is considered reliable so that I can nominate Tidus to FA after the copyedit.Tintor2 (talk) 23:07, 20 November 2016 (UTC)
It's good to be back! I was just working on life and my YouTube comedy channel, but I always come back. I nominated one Kingdom Hearts article for GA, keep things small and manageable. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 21:02, 26 November 2016 (UTC)

Cleanup Campaign Part VI

The last Top level Importance articles with cleanup tags

Then the last B class articles with cleanup tags

Have at it!

Images of Tales of Eternia at FFD

The FFD discussion has been ongoing for several months without closure. Though the games belong to Namco or Bandai Namco, I figure that you can treat the issue the same as the one with Final Fantasy games. I invite you to improve consensus there. --George Ho (talk) 04:19, 29 November 2016 (UTC)

Greetings WikiProject Square Enix/archive/17 Members!

This is a one-time-only message to inform you about a technical proposal to revive your Popular Pages list in the 2016 Community Wishlist Survey that I think you may be interested in reviewing and perhaps even voting for:

If the above proposal gets in the Top 10 based on the votes, there is a high likelihood of this bot being restored so your project will again see monthly updates of popular pages.

Further, there are over 260 proposals in all to review and vote for, across many aspects of wikis.

Thank you for your consideration. Please note that voting for proposals continues through December 12, 2016.

Best regards, SteviethemanDelivered: 18:08, 7 December 2016 (UTC)

FFVII possible FA push

Hi there. I'm wondering as, given that a huge new article has appeared on Polygon and it's the titles twentieth anniversary, there might be a collaborative effort between editors to bring this title to to FA standard, then return it to its rightful place. I must say here and now that starting from around mid-January I'll have very pressing real-world concerns that will bar me from extensive work on any part of Wikipedia until the beginning of February at the latest (not wikibreak strictly, just not much time to do long bouts of editing). I would be more than happy to take on the Synopsis (which needs trimming I think), Development and Release sections, and others can take on elements such as Gameplay and Reception. It's not a project for the immediate future, but at some point in the next month or two. Opinions? --ProtoDrake (talk) 23:05, 9 January 2017 (UTC)

I will try to help. However, I think the plot section is toó long and de could clean up the lead a little.Tintor2 (talk) 23:27, 9 January 2017 (UTC)

Main discussion is now at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video games#FFVII possible FA push which is happily quite active. --PresN 15:26, 11 January 2017 (UTC)

Merge discussion

There is currently a merge discussion at Talk:Characters of Final Fantasy X and X-2#Separation from main game articles. Regards.Tintor2 (talk) 02:18, 13 January 2017 (UTC)

Any sources for this, or is it a candidate for merger/deletion? I am no longer watching this pageping if you'd like a response czar 08:59, 27 January 2017 (UTC)

@Czar: Did a sweep in both English and Japanese; can't find anything that counts for notability. A few mentions in interviews by other people in projects he worked on, and an interview with him about a game he was developing, but nothing actually about him beyond confirmation of him being credited for several games. Which isn't enough. --PresN 12:15, 27 January 2017 (UTC)

Final Fantasy XV characters

A user recently created the article Gladiolus Amicitia but it seems to be lacking out-of-universe information in comparison to Noctis' article. By the way, Noctis' article lacks information about his role in FFXV. Since I don't have a PS4, I sadly can't expand it but I'm pretty sure Noctis could become a GA once his role in FFXV is added. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 16:19, 31 January 2017 (UTC)

@Tintor2: I've done work on Noctis' article. And I've got a feeling Gladio's article will be merged back into the main Characters article at some point.
This article isn't bad. However, years ago we reached consensus regarding the balanced, encyclopedic coverage of Final Fantasy characters on Wikipedia, and this character just doesn't cut it. He is not the main protagonist, and his notability has not extended beyond the work in which he appeared. Policies may have been changed in recent times (for which I wasn't around) but a fair and comprehensive merge still seems like the logical choice here. —Deckiller (t-c-l) 10:57, 13 February 2017 (UTC)

Proud

This WikiProject has never faltered. The work continues and is just as strong as it once was. You guys are incredible!

I started piggybacking on the FA push for Final Fantasy VII; this article is particularly comprehensive now, mostly thanks to team diligence and a ton of new sources (interviews in particular). It's almost too much of a good thing; we'll have to trim some of that! I think the plot section is about as succinct as it can be, and the gameplay section reads a little better now than it did way back in the day. Technical writing can be very challenging in an encyclopedic register, as we always see with these rather elusive Gameplay sections; they're always the ones that are constantly rewritten.

We should also add a few tidbits regarding retrospective opinions—e.g. timeless story/gameplay, dated graphics/audio font, the archaic translation—which brings up a point I think we need to consider. Final Fantasy is one of the oldest video game franchises, and a ton of VG sources are giving other games the same treatment as FF7 by releasing retrospective reviews, analyses, and interviews. With the HD Remake coming for FF12 later this year, and Square in a constant state of nostalgia these days, it leaves the question: do we need to add a consistent "retrospective" sub-section to the Reception sections of older Final Fantasies? I think it's important for the sake of encyclopedic coverage to frame these classics in a more modern context. —Deckiller (t-c-l) 10:39, 13 February 2017 (UTC)

Talking about Final Fantasy, I'm surprised the article Terra Branford hasn't been nominated to GA considering it has a good amount of real world information. Same with Noctis Lucis Caelum (who could even be a FA) whereas Gladios' article might end being merged with the character list.Tintor2 (talk) 16:55, 2 March 2017 (UTC)

Hey everyone. Just wanted to let you know that Final Fantasy XV has an expired retention period for the Wikipedia:Featured topics/Final Fantasy series topic. Will be taking it to FTRC unless someone will be taking it for GAN. Also, the retention period for Music of Final Fantasy XV involving Wikipedia:Featured topics/Music of the Final Fantasy series will expire on March 13th. GamerPro64 19:02, 1 March 2017 (UTC)

FTRC now up here. @ProtoDrake: you were working on these; I see that you just nominated the music article for GAN, were you planning on doing FFXV as well? Looks like it's missing a reception section is the main thing. --PresN 16:04, 2 March 2017 (UTC)
@PresN:, no I wasn't going to do the main article as my own project. I'm happy to help, but I'm a bit XV-ed out. I'm doing the music article as that's something of an emergency and requires minimal work, and when there's less upcoming content down the line, I'll get the development article out there. I think there might also be the need for a seperate list article of sorts, like with the Mass Effect 2 and 3 DLC. As to the Characters article, that's also something for a future time as it's been expanded in a rather haphazard fashion and may require a complete rewrite. Kingsglaive is also fairly easy, but I'm not feeling like handling that one either. --ProtoDrake (talk) 16:28, 2 March 2017 (UTC)
