A major issue
In looking at a lot of the in-universe articles, I see a lot of battle articles on KOTOR. In other words: RPG plot summary articles with in-universe titles. I suggest all this get compressed into either a plot summary on the main page (which may be tough), or in an article entitled something like Storyline of Knights of the Old Republic (I and/or II, depending on its length). This will be a small step in the right direction, but a tangible one for the time being. — Deckiller 01:14, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- I would also like to reaffirm a common point that Wikipedia approaches topics from an out of universe perspective; meaning, our priority is to describe the works and the plots, not just the plots. In other words, we need to limit our in-universe articles (battles, weapons) as much as possible, unless they are significant enough to have a plethora of in and out of universe info, and/or they encompass several works (such as the Battle of Endor or Star Destroyer articles). We should always redirect users interested in an extremely detailed and in-universe source to Wookieepedia. — Deckiller 01:24, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
I would rather we merged them into the game articles; the place to summarize the plot of a work is, as always, the article on that work. We could probably handwave a lot of the middle of these games; there's no great need to delve into every subplot (the really inane subplots on Dantooine and Tatooine in KOTOR come immediately to mind). - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 02:44, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- Exactly; but I'd rather do it in phases (like I've been doing with a lot of merges), so everything isn't so sudden and a huge tax on time. — Deckiller 03:46, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
Project Directory
Hello. The WikiProject Council is currently in the process of developing a master directory of the existing WikiProjects to replace and update the existing Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory. These WikiProjects are of vital importance in helping wikipedia achieve its goal of becoming truly encyclopedic. Please review the following pages:
- User:Badbilltucker/Culture Directory,
- User:Badbilltucker/Culture Directory 2,
- User:Badbilltucker/Philosophy and religion Directory,
- User:Badbilltucker/Sports Directory,
- User:Badbilltucker/Geographical Directory,
- User:Badbilltucker/Geographical Directory/United States, (note: This page will be retitled to more accurately reflect its contents)
- User:Badbilltucker/History and society directory, and
- User:Badbilltucker/Science directory
and make any changes to the entries for your project that you see fit. There is also a directory of portals, at User:B2T2/Portal, listing all the existing portals. Feel free to add any of them to the portals or comments section of your entries in the directory. The three columns regarding assessment, peer review, and collaboration are included in the directory for both the use of the projects themselves and for that of others. Having such departments will allow a project to more quickly and easily identify its most important articles and its articles in greatest need of improvement. If you have not already done so, please consider whether your project would benefit from having departments which deal in these matters. It is my hope to have the existing directory replaced by the updated and corrected version of the directory above by November 1. Please feel free to make any changes you see fit to the entries for your project before then. If you should have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you. B2T2 21:06, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry if you tried to update it before, and the corrections were gone. I have now put the new draft in the old directory pages, so the links should work better. My apologies for any confusion this may have caused you. B2T2 23:51, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Prequel & Original Trilogy actor/actresses
Does anyone know where I might be able to get backing that Ian McDiarmid was the only person to be recast in a human role for the prequel trilogies? Thanks. b_cubed 22:09, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
November/December Roll call
(Started a new roll call, since "August/September" was well over a month ago. See archive5)
- Hi! I just signed up. I've been wikifying the Viqi Shesh and Anakin Solo articles (you can tell i'm a fan of the New Jedi Order) and also Padme Amidala. Hopefully this project will help me with more ideas about where to edit next- CattleGirl talk | e@ 08:15, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
- Hi! I've just signed on as a project member. I've done a number of minor edits in several SW pages already, including a few minor re-writes of smaller items, and the creation of two minor pages. (I think it's two - it might be more!) Hope this qualifies me. If not, I promise not to cry!DAAdshead 10:11, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
- I'm a little late, but I'm going to be working on getting the A New Hope up to featured status and Empire and Jedi up to GA status. :) The Filmaker 01:07, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
- I've been working on several Star Wars articles already (such as Darth Vader). Decided I might as well join since I'm already at work : ) - jc37 02:57, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
- I've been taking time off from this project to pass GSUSA through the FA process, now that that is done, I might take a break and then start doing overhaul on the KOTOR and video game articles durring Christmas Break. Darthgriz98 03:09, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
- I guess you could say I'm still around, though not really with the project at the current time — I'm doing some rogue things right now. You'll probably be hearing from me significantly in about a month or so, once everything is lined up. — Deckiller 16:51, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
- I'm around. School's still going, so nothing's guaranteed. When I'm here, I'll probably be on the books or comics. Right now, I'm working on adding redirects or disambiguation pages to our lists' entries --Skope (talk) 04:07, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
- Im still here but Shared IP means that I cant always edit 100% of the time. When I can edit I'll be cleanng up spelling mistakes on other users pages, making small contributions to articles or making stubs for others to expand. I just added the Aleph Starfighter from Star wars betrayal to the starfighter list and added a section on the legacy of the force novels to the correlia article. - Hi! I'm Yuser31415. I wouldn't claim to be an expert on Star Wars but I have read two or three of the novelisations. I know most about Star Wars Episode I and hope I can help out in this area.
- I'm still here, and I still edit Star Wars articles from time to time, but most of my Star Wars related edits will be adding pictures, minor edits, or reverting vandalism due to my lack of knowledge beyond the films. Hope that this is okay. // Sasuke-kun27 21:14, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- I don't do much around here anymore, as I've focused much of my wiki-energy on Wookieepedia. But I still watch articles for vandalism. The Wookieepedian 21:17, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- Still around, but not particularly active with Star Wars articles anymore. I've become an admin since the last roll call, though, and will be using those new powers to help protect the pages from vandalism. EVula // talk // ☯ // 21:27, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Would some other folks mind poking their heads around Star Wars canon and the talk page. There's a slowly brewing edit war, and a somewhat established user got themselves blocked for 3RR. The same two or three parties have been having a rather heated back and forth for many, many months, and the article, and discussion, could benefit from uninvolved parties with knowledge of the subject. If anyone knows of any reliable sources that mention the Backstroke of the West meme, please add them to the article; it is now being discussed at AfD. Kavadi carrier 13:47, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
Wookieepedia is not a credible reference
According to Wikipedia policy, external wikis may not be used as sources. This includes Wookieepedia. I've noticed that some articles in this project have been copies articles from Wookieepedia. Transwiki-ing articles involves moving articles across Wikimiedia's wikis, not every wiki throughout the entire internet. Wikis with poor oversight are not as reliable as Wikipedia. Any articles which have been copied from Wookieepedia need to be re-written. Robocracy 13:49, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Minor characters
I see there are some minor characters that have their own entries (Cade Skywalker, Kol Skywalker and others). Shouldn't they be merged with the respective lists? What is the consensus about this matter? — Canderous Ordo 22:45, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
- I try to merge some cruft/minor characters every now and then, but it's occasionally met with resistance. One of the KOTOR character merges was just reverted, for example. We need to make it clear that minor in-universe characters/items don't need their own articles. — Deckiller 01:19, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
- Now that someone else understands the importance of merging at this stage of the game, I don't have to worry as much :) — Deckiller 15:05, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
Image missing
What's happened to our File:Lsbleu.jpg logo? Cheers! Yuser31415 05:04, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
- It was deleted from commons; and i'm sure many other Star Wars-related images will soon start disappearing... — Canderous Ordo 21:02, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
- Looks like we're going to have to use something else instead - the infobox isn't working with an picture like it should. I wondered about an image of Obi-Wan Kenobi or Queen Amidala, but does anyone have another idea? Yuser31415 22:15, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
- Fair-use images are not allowed on the Wikiproject space. You will have to use images with free licenses, which unfortunately are rarer than cortosis when it comes to Star Wars or similar science fiction products. — Canderous Ordo 21:38, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Getting rid of fancruft: Mini-project
I have found a lot of minor characters and some crap. At this point i think only the protagonists of certain games deserve a full entry (characters such as Revan, Jedi Exile, or Kyle Katarn, for example); maybe characters such as Bastila Shan, Jan Ors and Kreia could maintain their own entry, because the plot of the games involve them much more than the other party members. It should be noted that Canderous Ordo, Visas Marr, and HK-47 have their own articles but the Handmaiden, Mical and Mission Vao, that are as relevant as the three characters above, are in a list. This, in my opinion, looks odd. Either keep everyone merged or give everyone an entry ;) — Canderous Ordo 21:02, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
- I think that is there is enough information to warrant it's own article it should have one or better yet judge them on a case by case scale, but minor characters such as Visas Marr, the Handmaiden, and Mical do not have enough information to keep their own articles and most information on said articles if they were created would be endanger of being game guides and fanfiction/cruft as you have pointed out. Either way, we need to crackdown on fancruft in game articles, and worse yet: trivia sections, expecialy ones that have information on rummors or are gameguides. Darthgriz98 03:08, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

- Characters which probably deserve their own entry:
- - Revan (protagonist of KotOR)
- - Jedi Exile (protagonist of KotOR II)
- - Bastila Shan (canonical romance option for Revan)
- - Darth Malak (main villain of KotOR)
- - Kreia (main villain of KotOR II)
- - Jan Ors ?
— Canderous Ordo 10:44, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
- The problem is that a lot of these minor character articles look long, but most of it is trivial detail and plot summary. I agree with Canderous. Let's merge all these characters into the junkyard articles I created a while ago — it's the best alternative to full deletion. — Deckiller 14:57, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
- Many minor characters usually make an appearance in some videogames, therefore they are both "videogame characters" and "Jedi/Sith/class characters". Should they be put into "list of [name of videogame] characters" or into "list of minor [class] characters"? What aspect should get more priority? — Canderous Ordo 21:27, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
- At this point, it might be best just to merge the information into the plot summaries of their respective appearences. For instance, if a character appears in both the Clone Wars cartoon and in some sith novel, they should be explained in the plot synopsis on both pages. The redirect should probably go to their first appearence in terms of real world (I.E. the first work created, not the first appearence chronologically). — Deckiller 03:08, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

To be honest, I think even the protagonists of the games need to be merged. What can you possibly say about the Jedi Exile that won't be the plot of KOTOR II, for example? (I've been meaning to clean up these characters forever, BTW, so good that somebody's doing this for me. ¬_¬) - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 10:05, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'm glad someone is interested in cleaning up the Star Wars info, because I've been busy with the other priorities. The entire reason this wikiproject was started was/is to remove fancruft and churn out featured articles. — Deckiller 12:36, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
absolutely no effort was made with merging the articles, all they did was copy and paste... --Ditre 04:30, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- Is there the risk to face a lot of complaints if we try to merge Revan, Bastila Shan and the Exile ? — Canderous Ordo 22:01, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
the article was only meant to list the characters, not give compelete descriptions on them. i'd also like to bring this to attention Wikipedia:Article_size#A_rule_of_thumb --Ditre 00:11, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
Wikipedia Day Awards
Hello, all. It was initially my hope to try to have this done as part of Esperanza's proposal for an appreciation week to end on Wikipedia Day, January 15. However, several people have once again proposed the entirety of Esperanza for deletion, so that might not work. It was the intention of the Appreciation Week proposal to set aside a given time when the various individuals who have made significant, valuable contributions to the encyclopedia would be recognized and honored. I believe that, with some effort, this could still be done. My proposal is to, with luck, try to organize the various WikiProjects and other entities of wikipedia to take part in a larger celebrartion of its contributors to take place in January, probably beginning January 15, 2007. I have created yet another new subpage for myself (a weakness of mine, I'm afraid) at User talk:Badbilltucker/Appreciation Week where I would greatly appreciate any indications from the members of this project as to whether and how they might be willing and/or able to assist in recognizing the contributions of our editors. Thank you for your attention. Badbilltucker 16:04, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
