WP 1.0 bot announcement
[edit]This message is being sent to each WikiProject that participates in the WP 1.0 assessment system. On Saturday, January 23, 2010, the WP 1.0 bot will be upgraded. Your project does not need to take any action, but the appearance of your project's summary table will change. The upgrade will make many new, optional features available to all WikiProjects. Additional information is available at the WP 1.0 project homepage. — Carl (CBM · talk) 03:33, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
Mythology page
[edit]Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone would like to help and/or comment on the current "situation" going on over at the Mythology of Lost page. Numerous IPs (or perhaps it's the same person just changing their IP) continue to add that "The Sickness" is the situation that was talked about in What Kate Does. I personally do not think this is true and have added a hidden note stating that. If anyone could comment, help, etc. it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. --HELLØ ŦHERE 00:09, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- Well, it seems to have calmed down for now. Anyways, I agree that we should wait for some confirmation that the two are the same and I'm sure we'll get some clarification at some point. --Jackieboy87 (talk · contribs) 13:34, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- My main problem is the whole article is based on primary sources. This edit summary of anonymous IP "episode summary contains what Dogen said, which is the first mention of the sickness on the show by someone whom REALLY knows" shows that there is a big problem of what we call encyclopedia. Do we agree to a serious cleanup? -- Magioladitis (talk) 13:41, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- I think that we can all agree that the mythology page needs a lot of work; of course, saying that it does and actually doing it are very different commitments. –thedemonhog talk • edits 16:36, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- I very much agree it needs a clean up. I'm also very willing to bet that after the series finale, once the mythology is more fleshed out, we'll get numerous sources. But I do thank you for seemingly agreeing with me. If anyone would like to work with the page, I'd be more than willing to help. --HELLØ ŦHERE 21:37, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Right now it's very difficult to do a lot with the article. It's a mixture of plot observations and some podcasts. If we start removing primary sources there won't be much left! One main question: All sections are needed? I don't have a personal opinion at the moment. -- Magioladitis (talk) 12:07, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
- We could add something about Adam and Eve, as that's a plot point we have secondary sources/notability of: it's the mystery Obama asked to have solved when he agreed to move the SOTU to the last week of January. Sceptre (talk) 12:40, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
Lostpedia links
[edit]I know this may fall under WP:OSE, but I had a thought recently. I've just finished a re-watch of the newer Battlestar Galactica and when looking over the episode pages, I noticed that in the "external links" at the bottom, is a link to the BattleStar Wiki. Perhaps this has been brought up before, but should we maybe include a link to the Lostpedia articles of the episodes for LOST? Just a thought. --HELLØ ŦHERE 01:18, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
- I do not have a link for you, but this has been discussed many times, mostly at the main article's talk page. –thedemonhog talk • edits 01:32, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
- I figured it would've taken place already, but to be honest I didn't look. I figured I'd bring it up here though, as the thought recently crossed my mind. But personally, I'd be up for discussing it. --HELLØ ŦHERE 01:35, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
- We can always remove the links in BSG. :) -- Magioladitis (talk) 01:51, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Characters's arc section
[edit]I've seen all of the Lost characters articles' plot summaries are written in an in-universe style as all of them start from their earliest flashbacks such Martin Keamy, Tom Friendly or Ben Linus. I know it would be hard to write it in an out-of-universe style due to the flashbacks and flashfoward there are in an episodes, but weren't there any issues mentioned when an article was reviewed to be GA or FA? Regards.Tintor2 (talk) 15:36, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
Is this necessary?
[edit]Why do you have an article for each episode? Does each inidivdual episode still count as notable on its own? I don't believe it necessary to have a seperate article for each episode, similar to how we did not need an article for each individual Pokemon species. Brambleclawx 03:26, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
- It appears that you have a lot of content, but are they notable? (see WP:EPISODE). Brambleclawx 03:35, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, there are more than enough secondary sources out there to have a great article on every episode. In fact, one fifth of our episode articles are rated good or featured. Potential definitely exists; whether any of it is realized in the majority of the articles is another matter. –thedemonhog talk • edits 04:05, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
Finale today's featured article
[edit]It was always my goal to get Jack Shephard to featured status for the May 24 (because that is when the finale airs in Wikipedia's timezone) today's featured article spot, but I have not been that active on Wikipedia since 2008 and even if we collectively gave an article a large push, five weeks might not be anough time to get an article to featured status, as the review takes time and is generally not something that should be rushed anyway. So which article should we push for the upcoming today's featured article slot? Our choices are Nikki and Paulo, Greatest Hits (Lost), The Beginning of the End (Lost), Confirmed Dead, The Shape of Things to Come (Lost), Martin Keamy, The Other Woman and Meet Kevin Johnson. I think that the ones that we should be considering are Nikki and Paulo, Keamy and "The Shape of Things to Come". Thoughts? –thedemonhog talk • edits 05:24, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

No article for Jacob?
[edit]Jacob is one of the most important characters in the series, alongside The Man In Black (Lost), yet Jacob (Lost) redirects to a paragraph in a list. Do you think he merits an article? 86.41.61.203 (talk) 21:30, 13 May 2010 (UTC) I mean, there's a featured article on Keamy for goodness sake! 86.41.61.203 (talk) 21:32, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
Copied from Talk:Characters of Lost#Jacob Needs his own page
- But every article needs to pass Wp:Notability to have it. Importance within the series does not make him notable.Tintor2 (talk) 00:39, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
- Who is the arbiter of whether or not Jacob passes the Wp:Notability test?
Additionally, I question the validity of continuing to list Jacob as an "Other" at this point. It is clear that his role in the series long precedes that of the Others, and though his character is introduced by way of the Others, he's much bigger than any of the various groups in the series. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.130.141.158 (talk) 07:27, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
- There's a fair few articles about Jacob and interviews with Mark Pellegrino out there. If you want to make a Jacob page, go for it Tphi (talk) 13:47, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
- Wouldn't it better to see the article can pass notability before redirecting it? The most recent articles created, Illana and the Man in Black, have no reception sections.Tintor2 (talk) 13:51, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
TFA proposal
[edit]I thought this wikiproject would want to know about this proposal - [1]. Remember (talk) 15:35, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
I recently worked on Walkabout, and want to request a reassessment, to see how much the article has improved (it's currently ranked Start-class) in order to nominate it as a Good Article. Thanks. igordebraga ≠ 01:49, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
- Has definitely improved, I gave it a B-Class: "The article is mostly complete and without major issues," would be a good way to sum it up. Structured well, with basic and some detailed information. Looks like a good article to me. -- Wikipedical (talk) 05:15, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
Season 4 FT
[edit]Just a note that season 4 needs one more FA to remain a featured topic by September 1, 2010. The easiest articles to get up to FA in that time seem to be The Constant and There's No Place Like Home (Lost). Sceptre (talk) 00:47, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
Lost FAR
[edit]I have nominated Lost (TV series) for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Remove" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Ωphois 16:23, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
Updates to TV#MOS
[edit]I'm not sure how many people monitor WP:MOSTV or even WP:TV (the basic WikiProject for all of us), but we've been trying to get some feedback on additions to the TV Manual of Style. It largely has to do with the inclusion of "Overview" tables at the start of the page, the order in which season lists are presented (currently, there is no concrete order), and what is considered too much info for DVDs (i.e. should we be placing every detail about the box set in the article, from each interview to the aspect ratio, or should be keep it more generalized). Please see discussion at WT:MOSTV#Updates to the MOS. Thank you. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 22:09, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
Lost articles have been selected for the Wikipedia 0.8 release
[edit]Version 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB key, DVD and mobile phone. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.
We would like to ask you to review the Lost articles and revisionIDs we have chosen. Selected articles are marked with a diamond symbol (♦) to the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have included or excluded articles inappropriately, please contact us at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8 with the details. You may wish to look at your WikiProject's articles with cleanup tags and try to improve any that need work; if you do, please give us the new revisionID at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8. We would like to complete this consultation period by midnight UTC on Monday, October 11th.
We have greatly streamlined the process since the Version 0.7 release, so we aim to have the collection ready for distribution by the end of October, 2010. As a result, we are planning to distribute the collection much more widely, while continuing to work with groups such as One Laptop per Child and Wikipedia for Schools to extend the reach of Wikipedia worldwide. Please help us, with your WikiProject's feedback!

Invitation to participation!
[edit]Hello!
As you may be aware, the Wikimedia Foundation is gearing up for our annual fundraiser. We want to hit our goal and hit it as soon as possible, so that we can focus on Wikipedia's tenth anniversary on January 15 and our new project: Contributions. I'm posting across these Wikiprojects to engage you, the community, to work to build Wikipedia by finance but also by content. We seek donations not only financially, but by collaboration in building content. You can find more information in Philippe Beaudette's memo to the communities here.
Visit the Contribution project page and the Fundraising page to find out how you can help us support and spread free knowledge. Keegan, Wikimedia Fundraiser 2010 (talk) 05:59, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
Because You Left/Dr. Candle
[edit]Hello fellow Losties. So, okay, for a while (like during most of season 6) I was without regular Internet access, so things may have changed. But, as far as I can remember, the inclusion of Pierre Chang calling himself "Dr. Candle" on the Because You Left page was not necessary. There was even a hidden note, numerous edit wars, and a talk page discussion about it. But, when I went to check out the page the other day, the reference to "Dr. Candle" was included. Since then I've removed it several times and it continues to be added by two different (suspected as the same person) IP addresses. Can anyone help? --HELLØ ŦHERE 18:49, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
Assessment
[edit]I've recently edited Man of Science, Man of Faith, Adrift (Lost) and Dave (Lost), and wanted some input - all three are rated Start-class, but I feel they're improved enough for GA status (the first two are even in the GAN right now, but I'll wait for opinions before putting a third) - if anyone's still there and interested. igordebraga ≠ 22:34, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

Inclusion criteria
[edit]The unassessed articles for the project were beginning to irritate me so I decided to assess them, however I came across a few articles that I was entirely sure whether they should be kept within the project, and if they are then there are probably others that should be included. These are the articles I'm a bit unsure about including: Rod Holcomb, Lynne E. Litt, Michael Zinberg, Marita Grabiak, Jeffrey Lieber, You Found Me and Gatsbys American Dream (album). I think Damon, Carlton, JJ Abrams and Michael Giacchino are probably all worth keeping in the project (maybe add Jack Bender?) but wasn't really sure how they should be rated for importance (I know it doesn't really matter but I like things being organised!). Sanders11 (talk) 16:41, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
- Since noone has responded I've followed the precedent set by WP:WHO and WP:DOH which list directors and writers as low importance. I've put Damon and Carlton as high importance. Sanders11 (talk) 15:18, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
Lost season 3
[edit]Hello all! I am new to the Lost WikiProject, having mostly edited Fringe-related episode articles recently. I am beginning to expand the Lost third season (firstly with Tricia Tanaka Is Dead), and invite anyone interested to help me expand the rest of the season. The goal is to make it to a Good Topic. If any are so inclined, feel free to select the episodes that interest you the most. Thanks! Ruby2010 comment! 20:24, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
Right now someone is trying to delete the main image for Dr. Linus because they don't think it satisfies the FU criteria for Wikipedia. Does anyone have any ideas what would serve as an encyclopedic replacement (I.E. something that will satisfy those who spend all their free time trying to delete all the non-free images on Wikipedia)? I was thinking of something plot-specific with alternate Ben that would tie into the article more specifically, perhaps something with him and Alex? I've looked at the FA articles for the Lost episodes but I admit I'm not too sure the differences between what type of image "works" and what "doesn't". I'd be more than happy to do what ever is asked of me.--CyberGhostface (talk) 04:22, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
- It might be too late to reply to this, but I bet if you added more about Michael Emerson's performance (and how awesome it was) to the reception section, you would be able to justify the image's inclusion (afterall, those types of images are allowed if they contribute to the critical commentary for the episode). Hope that helps, Thanks. Ruby2010 comment! 00:01, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the response, I'll keep that in mind in the future if I run into this problem again. :) --CyberGhostface (talk) 01:01, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
- No problem at all :) Good luck with Lost-related articles! Ruby2010 comment! 01:23, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
Jacob (Lost Character)
[edit]See my comment at Talk:List of Lost characters#Jacob (Lost Character), I am not sure of any standing consensus to include him or not as a stand alone article, just notification of the creation. --kelapstick(bainuu) 23:46, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
Table at List of Lost cast members
[edit]Please could someone take a look at this and give it a reasonable colour scheme. The current one is awful, and fails WP:COLOR. Please also restore the links to blue. Also there's a couple of season six, "Starring only in The End" panels which have colours, but no text - can someone look at this too. --Rob Sinden (talk) 13:03, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
Lost Manual of Style question
[edit]I've noticed that on most articles, the 'Flashbacks' section occurs before the 'On the Island' section. I feel as though it would make more sense for the Flashbacks to come after the Island section, because the show's main focus is on the Island. Leaflet for Wikiproject Lost at Wikimania 2014
[edit]Hi all,
My name is Adi Khajuria and I am helping out with Wikimania 2014 in London.
One of our initiatives is to create leaflets to increase the discoverability of various wikimedia projects, and showcase the breadth of activity within wikimedia. Any kind of project can have a physical paper leaflet designed - for free - as a tool to help recruit new contributors. These leaflets will be printed at Wikimania 2014, and the designs can be re-used in the future at other events and locations.
This is particularly aimed at highlighting less discoverable but successful projects, e.g:
• Active Wikiprojects: Wikiproject Medicine, WikiProject Video Games, Wikiproject Film
• Tech projects/Tools, which may be looking for either users or developers.
• Less known major projects: Wikinews, Wikidata, Wikivoyage, etc.
• Wiki Loves Parliaments, Wiki Loves Monuments, Wiki Loves ____
• Wikimedia thematic organisations, Wikiwomen’s Collaborative, The Signpost
The deadline for submissions is 1st July 2014
For more information or to sign up for one for your project, go to:

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal
[edit]Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
WikiProject X is live!
[edit]Hello everyone!
You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

Request for information on WP1.0 web tool
[edit]Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.
We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? We have collected all of these questions at this Google form where you can leave your response. Walkerma (talk) 04:25, 27 October 2019 (UTC)
