Listing of project and Guide

Hi. Thought you might like to know that your project is now listed on the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory/Culture, so more people might find out about it now. Also, they have a Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Guide, which might help you set up the project's page, goals, and methods more clearly, hopefully drawing additional members as a result. Best of luck with the project. Badbilltucker 20:08, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

Merge

Since my Nickelodeon WikiProject is already existing, I suggest that we merge the two, but keep this title. - A Link to the Past (talk) 19:22, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

Yeah. Me too. 1ne 18:41, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
So...are we merging? 1ne 07:49, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
Eventually. We're trying to think of what to work on first. - A Link to the Past (talk) 22:21, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

OK, I like the idea. I'll help on the project if you need me. --Glitch Freak

Oh, why don't you work on the shows in ABC order? That way, we can keep track of the shows we still need to work on, via the list at the bottom of the Nick.com page. I could copy the list and keep track easily. --Glitch Freak

Project Directory

Hello. The WikiProject Council is currently in the process of developing a master directory of the existing WikiProjects to replace and update the existing Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory. These WikiProjects are of vital importance in helping wikipedia achieve its goal of becoming truly encyclopedic. Please review the following pages:

and make any changes to the entries for your project that you see fit. There is also a directory of portals, at User:B2T2/Portal, listing all the existing portals. Feel free to add any of them to the portals or comments section of your entries in the directory. The three columns regarding assessment, peer review, and collaboration are included in the directory for both the use of the projects themselves and for that of others. Having such departments will allow a project to more quickly and easily identify its most important articles and its articles in greatest need of improvement. If you have not already done so, please consider whether your project would benefit from having departments which deal in these matters. It is my hope to have the existing directory replaced by the updated and corrected version of the directory above by November 1. Please feel free to make any changes you see fit to the entries for your project before then. If you should have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you. B2T2 22:07, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Sorry if you tried to update it before, and the corrections were gone. I have now moved the new draft in the old directory pages, so the links should work better. My apologies for any confusion this may have caused you. B2T2 13:51, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia Day Awards

Hello, all. It was initially my hope to try to have this done as part of Esperanza's proposal for an appreciation week to end on Wikipedia Day, January 15. However, several people have once again proposed the entirety of Esperanza for deletion, so that might not work. It was the intention of the Appreciation Week proposal to set aside a given time when the various individuals who have made significant, valuable contributions to the encyclopedia would be recognized and honored. I believe that, with some effort, this could still be done. My proposal is to, with luck, try to organize the various WikiProjects and other entities of wikipedia to take part in a larger celebrartion of its contributors to take place in January, probably beginning January 15, 2007. I have created yet another new subpage for myself (a weakness of mine, I'm afraid) at User talk:Badbilltucker/Appreciation Week where I would greatly appreciate any indications from the members of this project as to whether and how they might be willing and/or able to assist in recognizing the contributions of our editors. Thank you for your attention. Badbilltucker 16:31, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Template placement

Hi, I've noticed today that the nickelodeon wikiproject template has been placed on both the article and discussion pages of various nicktoons cartoons (invader zim, hey arnold etc.). Is it policy to put wikiproject templates into the actual articles? Because I think it would be better off keeping it just to the discussion page as it's looks neater. --BillPP (talk) 13:12, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

One more thing completely unrelated to my question but I noticed that with your templates that the Fairly Odd Parents template has the show title hard coded into it rather than passed as a parameter. I quickly made this template Template:Nickelodeon episode which allows passing of the show's name into it so it will work with any Nick TV show.
Example:

File:Open Use Nick Logo.gif WikiProject Television/Nickelodeon task force/Archive 1 is an episode of Invader Zim, so is within the scope of WikiProject Nickelodeon. WikiProject Nickelodeon is dedicated to expanding the coverage of Nickelodeon.

Code: {{Nickelodeon episode|showtitle=Invader Zim}}

BillPP (talk) 13:38, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

Ok I'm answering my own question here but I've read up on the project banner section of the WikiProject guide and it says that the banner should be placed on the talk page of the articles in the scope of the project. So I'll just go ahead and remove the ones from the articles. --BillPP (talk) 01:57, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

I've just launched the new assessment scale. Please rate articles as you skimp along, because less than half of out 500 articles have been assessed. — JuWiki (Talk <> Resources) 21:40, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Nickelodeon and Nickelodeon Shows

Guys, Nickelodeon Shows was around first and has the same purpose as this WikiProject. Why don't we merge them? 1ne 18:24, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

Yes, but we keep this name. We could even delete that project because it's considered "inactive" by the WikiProject Directory. — JuWiki (Talk<>Resources)
Who's going to be "President" or "Manager", though? 1ne 01:37, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
There's no president or manager in a WikiProject. The person who created the project doesn't own the project. - A Link to the Past (talk) 01:44, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
Exactly. That would be like one person owning the whole project. People can get power mad. Glitch Freak 19:59 26 March 2007

Bot

Should we try to request a bot to assess our articles? We have 250+ articles that haven't been assessed... — JuWiki (Talk <> Resources) 23:59, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

I can do that easily. I mean, I've assessed many more articles than that. - A Link to the Past (talk) 01:55, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Help needed

Help is needed in taming kid-stuff on talk pages and some really nasty vandalism. Since The Naked Brothers Band (TV series) premiered, vandalism to Michael Wolff has picked up, and there's been some nasty vandalism at either Nat Wolff or Alex Wolff (can't remember which). Since Michael Wolff has Tourette syndrome, I'd appreciate any help Project members can give in watchlisting and vandal patrolling the kids' articles, particularly from the nasty TS jokes. I also need help on the talk pages. Thanks, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 01:04, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

I started a Wikiproject for Invader Zim a while back and at the moment there's very few active members. Right now it's running in a similar way to a task force (just editing targets, no article assessment, no bureaucracy, etc.). I'm proposing that it become a taskforce within the Nickelodeon wikiproject. How does that sound? If approved I can change the project into a taskforce immediately. ●BillPP (talk|contribs) 16:38, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Very good idea. We'd like a task force, so you may do it if necessary. — JuWiki (Talk <> Resources) 21:15, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

Suggestion: Get and use Not Just Cartoons: Nicktoons! by Jerry Beck

I found a book in the bookstore called Not Just Cartoons: Nicktoons! by Jerry Beck. I'm not going to buy it and join the project, but I will ask the other members to get the book so that they can add real world information about various fictional characters.

This makes the creation of separate articles for *many* fictional characters feasible. Having information about the development of the character will make the articles satisfy Wikipedia:Notability (fiction) WhisperToMe (talk) 02:19, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Centralized TV Episode Discussion

Over the past months, TV episodes have been redirected by (to name a couple) TTN, Eusebeus and others. No centralized discussion has taken place, so I'm asking everyone who has been involved in this issue to voice their opinions here in this centralized spot, be they pro or anti. Discussion is here [1]. Even if you have not, other opinions are needed because this issue is affecting all TV episodes in Wikipedia. --Maniwar (talk) 23:23, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Changes to the WP:1.0 assessment scheme

As you may have heard, we at the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial Team recently made some changes to the assessment scale, including the addition of a new level. The new description is available at WP:ASSESS.

  • The new C-Class represents articles that are beyond the basic Start-Class, but which need additional references or cleanup to meet the standards for B-Class.
  • The criteria for B-Class have been tightened up with the addition of a rubric, and are now more in line with the stricter standards already used at some projects.
  • A-Class article reviews will now need more than one person, as described here.

Each WikiProject should already have a new C-Class category at Category:C-Class_articles. If your project elects not to use the new level, you can simply delete your WikiProject's C-Class category and clarify any amendments on your project's assessment/discussion pages. The bot is already finding and listing C-Class articles.

Please leave a message with us if you have any queries regarding the introduction of the revised scheme. This scheme should allow the team to start producing offline selections for your project and the wider community within the next year. Thanks for using the Wikipedia 1.0 scheme! For the 1.0 Editorial Team, §hepBot (Disable) 21:10, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Nicktoons Unite!

Patrolling recent changes I found some anonymous edits made to Nicktoons Unite! article. As they were unexplained changes of content, I reverted them (with the proper edit summary). The same IP kept making changes (diffs [2], [3], [4], [5]). It may be sneaking vandalism, but I'm not familiar with the subject, so I couldn't say. I'm posting this notice in WikiProjects Nickelodeon, Video games and SpongeBob SquarePants so maybe somebody familiar with the subject can determine whether this is vandalism or not. --PeterCantropus (talk) 07:01, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

Articles flagged for cleanup

Currently, 362 articles are assigned to this project, of which 119, or 32.9%, are flagged for cleanup of some sort. (Data as of 14 July 2008.) Are you interested in finding out more? I am offering to generate cleanup to-do lists on a project or work group level. See User:B. Wolterding/Cleanup listings for details. Wikipedia 0.7 articles have been selected for Nickelodeon

Wikipedia 0.7 is a collection of English Wikipedia articles due to be released on DVD, and available for free download, later this year. The Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team has made an automated selection of articles for Version 0.7.

We would like to ask you to review the articles selected from this project. These were chosen from the articles with this project's talk page tag, based on the rated importance and quality. If there are any specific articles that should be removed, please let us know at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.7. You can also nominate additional articles for release, following the procedure at Wikipedia:Release Version Nominations.

A list of selected articles with cleanup tags, sorted by project, is available. The list is automatically updated each hour when it is loaded. Please try to fix any urgent problems in the selected articles. A team of copyeditors has agreed to help with copyediting requests, although you should try to fix simple issues on your own if possible.

We would also appreciate your help in identifying the version of each article that you think we should use, to help avoid vandalism or POV issues. These versions can be recorded at this project's subpage of User:SelectionBot/0.7. We are planning to release the selection for the holiday season, so we ask you to select the revisions before October 20. At that time, we will use an automatic process to identify which version of each article to release, if no version has been manually selected. Thanks! For the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial team, SelectionBot 23:02, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Incorrectly terminated newsletter coding

I have just come back from User talk:Light Ichigo where not one, but two separate newsletters from this Wikiproject were incorrectly terminated and affected the contents of the entire talkpage ([6]). iCarly

Hey guys the iCarly article needs some serious help. I'm thinking of making a list page for the iCarly characters (the character description takes up over half the article and it is almost completely unsourced). It you are against it fine, I won't make the page (post here, the iCarly talk page, or my user page as why you think I should or should not) but for now I'll be palying around with it. Intro

Hi! I'm Dylan, the very latest member of WP:NICK. I joined on the grounds of my attempt to improve the Rocko's Modern Life article to GA-class. It's my favorite show, so I decided that since it was a very well-written article, I would nominate it at GAC. The topic could use some help a LOT of help; none of the articles are even at GA-class, and four of the articles are at Stub-class, which is more for any topic that I've seen so far. Rocko and Spunky could also benefit from expansion; although the former is B-class and the latter Start-class (Spunky is C-class with WikiProject Dogs), neither is at the level of a Good Article. Also disturbing is that two of this WikiProject's Top-Importance articles are Stub-class, and that only one article within the scope of this project–Animaniacs (which is only mid-importance)–is featured.

As a member of this WikiProject, I will try to improve these flaws, and improve some core articles (like SpongeBob SquarePants and Rocko's Modern Life) to FA-class. I also suggest task forces on shows that are of the utmost importance to the project (like Rocko's Modern Life and Rugrats) This gives me two WikiProjects to dedicate my time on Wikipedia to; I am already a member of WP:WPTC. Warm regards, Dylan620 (talk) 19:06, 21 October 2008 (UTC).

Coordinators' working group

Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new WikiProject coordinators' working group, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.

All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. If your project hasn't formally designated any editors as coordinators, but you are someone who regularly deals with coordination tasks in the project, please feel free to join as well. — Delievered by §hepBot (Disable) on behalf of the WikiProject coordinators' working group at 06:09, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Vandalism? on page

I just undid what I believed to be vandalism on the project page. It seemed to be something about The Mighty Bee in another language. Sorry if it served a purpose but to whomever created it, you deleted important infromation (like members' names)in the process and all edits on the English language Wiki have to be in...well English. If it was Vandalism, please knock it off.

Help with research

Characters from 1990s television need some help with references. Come see Tommy Pickles, Reptar‎, Angelica Pickles, Phil and Lil DeVille, Susie Carmichael, Dil Pickles, Lila Sawyer, they are all up for deletion. Contemporary shows tend to get the best coverage so we have articles on Moe Szyslak and Eric Cartman. There is a trend to delete show episodes and character biographies for pre 2000 telecasts. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 21:27, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Programming blocks

I have decided to take the various disconnected articles about Nickelodeon's various weekday afternoon and summer programming blocks into a AfD nomination because many of them are completely unsourced or are sourced only with links via the network's site and PR. I welcome you to address your concerns about my nomination; I feel this has been a lingering issue as far as continuity and sourcing with each article that must be addressed because everytime Nickelodeon creates a new block, they don't seem to keep it and end it after three months. I would also definitely welcome a solution, such as a combined article about the blocks. Thank you. Nate (chatter) 09:49, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Nickelodeon articles have been selected for the Wikipedia 0.8 release

Version 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB key, DVD and mobile phone. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.

We would like to ask you to review the Nickelodeon articles and revisionIDs we have chosen. Selected articles are marked with a diamond symbol (♦) to the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have included or excluded articles inappropriately, please contact us at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8 with the details. You may wish to look at your WikiProject's articles with cleanup tags and try to improve any that need work; if you do, please give us the new revisionID at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8. We would like to complete this consultation period by midnight UTC on Monday, October 11th.

We have greatly streamlined the process since the Version 0.7 release, so we aim to have the collection ready for distribution by the end of October, 2010. As a result, we are planning to distribute the collection much more widely, while continuing to work with groups such as One Laptop per Child and Wikipedia for Schools to extend the reach of Wikipedia worldwide. Please help us, with your WikiProject's feedback!

Note, article, or stub for Nickelodeon (jukebox)

I have edited text in some pages in very minor ways, but I don't yet know a lot of things here. If there is another place to post this idea, please let me know.

I would like to suggest that someone searching for "Nickelodeon" would find a note that Nickelodeon also refers to an American jukebox (see Wiktionary, where there is no reference to the channel/network). I don't know how these two pages (Wikipedia and Wiktionary) might be made more consistent, or even if they should be.

Of course, there may be an article somewhere (perhaps a stub) about the jukebox, but I can't find it. It looks to me as if the Disambiguation page should mention this, even if there isn't an article.

Thanks for your consideration.

This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.

If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

MERGING THE CHARACTER ARTICLES OF THE FAIRLY ODDPARENTS WITH IT'S MAIN PAGE

I guess my question is why were they merged? If the point of this project is to make the pages on Nickelodeon better, wouldn't make more sense to have separate articles on the characters? That way, people could get a more comprehensive on the individual characters and those who don't wish to, can simply read the brief synopsis on the main article. I guess the concern is if more details are added, the main article might become unnecessarily large and flabby for lack of a better word. I hope this is the appropriate place to ask this question; if not, let me know. VirginiaBoyVirginiaBoy (talk) 04:41, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

Merger of this project into WikiProject Television as a task force

It has been suggested that WikiProject Nickelodeon to be merged into WikiProject Television as a task force since the project might be inactive or semi-active. After reviewing this project that it appears that there have not been any active discussion on the talk page in some time and the only content updates appear to be simple maintenance so being supported by a larger project might be beneficial. If you have questions or comments, please let us know. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 10:42, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Why not recruit dormant User:LRifle to the WikiProject. I know the user as the bureaucrat of the Fairly OddParent's Wiki. He/ she can help fix this article from its misery. Fairly OddParents Freak (Fairlyoddparents1234) 01:23, 17 November 2012 (UTC)

As of January, the popular pages tool has moved from the Toolserver to Wikimedia Tool Labs. The code has changed significantly from the Toolserver version, but users should notice few differences. Please take a moment to look over your project's list for any anomalies, such as pages that you expect to see that are missing or pages that seem to have more views than expected. Note that unlike other tools, this tool aggregates all views from redirects, which means it will typically have higher numbers. (For January 2014 specifically, 35 hours of data is missing from the WMF data, which was approximated from other dates. For most articles, this should yield a more accurate number. However, a few articles, like ones featured on the Main Page, may be off).

Web tools, to replace the ones at tools:~alexz/pop, will become available over the next few weeks at toollabs:popularpages. All of the historical data (back to July 2009 for some projects) has been copied over. The tool to view historical data is currently partially available (assessment data and a few projects may not be available at the moment). The tool to add new projects to the bot's list is also available now (editing the configuration of current projects coming soon). Unlike the previous tool, all changes will be effective immediately. OAuth is used to authenticate users, allowing only regular users to make changes to prevent abuse. A visible history of configuration additions and changes is coming soon. Once tools become fully available, their toolserver versions will redirect to Labs.

If you have any questions, want to report any bugs, or there are any features you would like to see that aren't currently available on the Toolserver tools, see the updated FAQ or contact me on my talk page. Mr.Z-bot (talk) (for Mr.Z-man) 05:19, 23 February 2014 (UTC)

Invitation to User Study

Would you be interested in participating in a user study? We are a team at University of Washington studying methods for finding collaborators within a Wikipedia community. We are looking for volunteers to evaluate a new visualization tool. All you need to do is to prepare for your laptop/desktop, web camera, and speaker for video communication with Google Hangout. We will provide you with a Amazon gift card in appreciation of your time and participation. For more information about this study, please visit our wiki page (http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Research:Finding_a_Collaborator). Leaflet For Wikiproject Nickelodeon At Wikimania 2014

Hi all,

My name is Adi Khajuria and I am helping out with Wikimania 2014 in London.

One of our initiatives is to create leaflets to increase the discoverability of various wikimedia projects, and showcase the breadth of activity within wikimedia. Any kind of project can have a physical paper leaflet designed - for free - as a tool to help recruit new contributors. These leaflets will be printed at Wikimania 2014, and the designs can be re-used in the future at other events and locations.

This is particularly aimed at highlighting less discoverable but successful projects, e.g:

• Active Wikiprojects: Wikiproject Medicine, WikiProject Video Games, Wikiproject Film

• Tech projects/Tools, which may be looking for either users or developers.

• Less known major projects: Wikinews, Wikidata, Wikivoyage, etc.

• Wiki Loves Parliaments, Wiki Loves Monuments, Wiki Loves ____

• Wikimedia thematic organisations, Wikiwomen’s Collaborative, The Signpost

For more information or to sign up for one for your project, go to:

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

WikiProject X is live!

Hello everyone!

You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

Greetings WikiProject Television/Nickelodeon task force/Archive 1 Members!

This is a one-time-only message to inform you about a technical proposal to revive your Popular Pages list in the 2016 Community Wishlist Survey that I think you may be interested in reviewing and perhaps even voting for:

If the above proposal gets in the Top 10 based on the votes, there is a high likelihood of this bot being restored so your project will again see monthly updates of popular pages.

Further, there are over 260 proposals in all to review and vote for, across many aspects of wikis.

Thank you for your consideration. Please note that voting for proposals continues through December 12, 2016.

Best regards, SteviethemanDelivered: 18:05, 7 December 2016 (UTC)

We – Community Tech – are happy to announce that the Popular pages bot is back up-and-running (after a one year hiatus)! You're receiving this message because your WikiProject or task force is signed up to receive the popular pages report. Every month, Community Tech bot will post at Wikipedia:WikiProject Television/Nickelodeon task force/Archive 1/Popular pages with a list of the most-viewed pages over the previous month that are within the scope of WikiProject Television.

We've made some enhancements to the original report. Here's what's new:

  • The pageview data includes both desktop and mobile data.
  • The report will include a link to the pageviews tool for each article, to dig deeper into any surprises or anomalies.
  • The report will include the total pageviews for the entire project (including redirects).

We're grateful to Mr.Z-man for his original Mr.Z-bot, and we wish his bot a happy robot retirement. Just as before, we hope the popular pages reports will aid you in understanding the reach of WikiProject Television, and what articles may be deserving of more attention. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us at m:User talk:Community Tech bot.

Warm regards, the Community Tech Team 17:16, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

WikiProject collaboration notice from the Portals WikiProject

The reason I am contacting you is because there are one or more portals that fall under this subject, and the Portals WikiProject is currently undertaking a major drive to automate portals that may affect them.

Portals are being redesigned.

The new design features are being applied to existing portals.

At present, we are gearing up for a maintenance pass of portals in which the introduction section will be upgraded to no longer need a subpage. In place of static copied and pasted excerpts will be self-updating excerpts displayed through selective transclusion, using the template {{Transclude lead excerpt}}.

The discussion about this can be found here.

Maintainers of specific portals are encouraged to sign up as project members here, noting the portals they maintain, so that those portals are skipped by the maintenance pass. Currently, we are interested in upgrading neglected and abandoned portals. There will be opportunity for maintained portals to opt-in later, or the portal maintainers can handle upgrading (the portals they maintain) personally at any time.

Background

On April 8th, 2018, an RfC ("Request for comment") proposal was made to eliminate all portals and the portal namespace. On April 17th, the Portals WikiProject was rebooted to handle the revitalization of the portal system. On May 12th, the RfC was closed with the result to keep portals, by a margin of about 2 to 1 in favor of keeping portals.

There's an article in the current edition of the Signpost interviewing project members about the RfC and the Portals WikiProject.

Since the reboot, the Portals WikiProject has been busy building tools and components to upgrade portals.

So far, 84 editors have joined.

If you would like to keep abreast of what is happening with portals, see the newsletter archive.

If you have any questions about what is happening with portals or the Portals WikiProject, please post them on the WikiProject's talk page.

Thank you.    — The Transhumanist   07:50, 30 May 2018 (UTC)

A new newsletter directory is out!

A new Newsletter directory has been created to replace the old, out-of-date one. If your WikiProject and its taskforces have newsletters (even inactive ones), or if you know of a missing newsletter (including from sister projects like WikiSpecies), please include it in the directory! The template can be a bit tricky, so if you need help, just post the newsletter on the template's talk page and someone will add it for you.

Request for information on WP1.0 web tool

Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.

We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? We have collected all of these questions at this Google form where you can leave your response. Walkerma (talk) 04:24, 27 October 2019 (UTC)
