University of Arts of Belgrade

[edit]

http://www.arts.bg.ac.rs/rektoraten/uu/?id=istorijatuu Does this project also cover the University of Arts in Belgrade‎ and the Music Conservatory? In ictu oculi (talk) 08:32, 27 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The project covers University of Belgrade-related topics. The Arts University in Belgrade, for example, is a separate institution. However, I don't see any barrier to start a task force within the project or just a subsection, such as "Other universities in Serbia" or "Other universities in Belgrade". If there is an interest in doing this we can broaden our goals. --Comparativist1 (talk) 11:58, 27 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I suspect you may need support of all Belgrade universities, projects like this need "critical mass." I did Mokranjac Music School, am interested perhaps to translate sr:Музичка школа Станковић, and to expand University of Arts in Belgrade‎. When in English sources say "Belgrade Conservatory" "Musical Academy of Belgrade", is that now part of University of Arts in Belgrade‎? In ictu oculi (talk) 10:39, 27 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I fully agree. There is no reason why other universities from Belgrade, Serbia and the region couldn't be discussed here. Yes, it is a part of the University of Arts in Belgrade. If I'm wrong, someone correct me please. This problem also occured while categorizing people under the University of Belgrade alumni rubrics. --Comparativist1 (talk) 11:00, 27 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe this project should be renamed to Universities of Belgrade. There is one more university in Belgrade, Univerzitet odbrane ([1]).--Antidiskriminator (talk) 06:41, 1 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Article Alerts function

[edit]

I just added { { / Article alerts } } to WikiProject Serbia. Now the end of page shows all ongoing actions related to WikiProject Serbia articles. The same could be used here, when this Project has tagged articles. In ictu oculi (talk) 22:28, 27 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That's wonderful! It would be great to do it for this project as well. I just don't know how. Can you help? Comparativist1 (talk) 22:47, 27 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, I've added it, but it needs setting up to work. .. will try and look later. In ictu oculi (talk) 23:19, 27 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much! By the way, why don't you put your name on the list of active users? :) Comparativist1 (talk) 23:51, 27 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion on consolidating inactive and semi-active university WikiProjects

[edit]

This project may be affected by a proposed consolidation of inactive and semi-active WikiProjects covering universities. The proposed consolidation is being discussed on the talk page of WikiProject Universities. We are seeking feedback from the projects that may be impacted before we decide on a course of action. Please drop by to participate in the discussion. Thanks! –Mabeenot (talk) 06:54, 23 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • "Inactive university projects that do not contain any useful information would be nominated for deletion. Any university-specific banners would be redirected to the WikiProject Universities banner."

It would be good to first gain consensus here and then to present it to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Universities.

After almost a year there are only 123 articles which belong to this wikiproject. I think that it is a proof that this wikiproject is unfortunatelly dead and that there is a little chance to make it alive. Therefore I am very close to support its deletion. Any thoughts.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 08:32, 23 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well, i am usually against merger of WP-s, as it may be time of peace for a lot of them. But after merger, there are no useful possibilities to restart it again without the fuss. Comparativist1 is inactive since October... Maybe we should raise this on WPSERBIA talk also? --WhiteWriterspeaks 16:24, 23 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Go ahead if you think it can resurrect this project. I doubt it can. WP Serbia has most of its articles unassessed or unrated. I don't think members of that wp would be able to help this project if they are not able to resolve issues of their project. But you can try if you want. --Antidiskriminator (talk) 23:31, 23 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think the most useful option is to make a list of completed, uncompleted, and requested articles. If we have a sufficient number of uncompleted, and requested articles and if we have at least some relevant and visible progress in last period then we need not to be in fear. However, I personally believe that in the end this is the inevitable fate of this project after exhaustion of all topics. It might still not be the case, but will be one day (we can still write about academic journals, professors, departments...). For this reason, we need to be included in discussion on the final appearance of merger. We need to ask that at the talk pages at the end still stand our tag or at least to be as in case of African national projects. Also, we need at the same time to stay connected to projects Universities and Serbia. These are just some ideas, I just want to say that we need to participate in shaping of final solution because I do not think that just with defensive attitude about this project we can have a crucial influence on final result. I mean, there is a lot of involved groups. However, since I believe that this will be the final fate before or later, I believe that we must take advantage of the current strong interest because if later only we go with some requirements I do not think that they will take us seriously enough then.--MirkoS18 (talk) 21:38, 24 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. Let User:WhiteWriter create a "University of Belgrade task list" with relevant data - we update the list, add the articles classes and importance. As pointed out, the Project is inactive, and too small - a task list does it.--Zoupan 21:34, 14 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal

[edit]

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:48, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject X is live!

[edit]

Hello everyone!

You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

Request for information on WP1.0 web tool

[edit]

Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.

We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? We have collected all of these questions at this Google form where you can leave your response. Walkerma (talk) 04:25, 27 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

User script to detect unreliable sources

[edit]

I have (with the help of others) made a small user script to detect and highlight various links to unreliable sources and predatory journals. Some of you may already be familiar with it, given it is currently the 39th most imported script on Wikipedia. The idea is that it takes something like

  • John Smith "Article of things" Deprecated.com. Accessed 2020-02-14. (John Smith "[https://www.deprecated.com/article Article of things]" ''Deprecated.com''. Accessed 2020-02-14.)

and turns it into something like

It will work on a variety of links, including those from {{cite web}}, {{cite journal}} and {{doi}}.

The script is mostly based on WP:RSPSOURCES, WP:NPPSG and WP:CITEWATCH and a good dose of common sense. I'm always expanding coverage and tweaking the script's logic, so general feedback and suggestions to expand coverage to other unreliable sources are always welcomed.

Do note that this is not a script to be mindlessly used, and several caveats apply. Details and instructions are available at User:Headbomb/unreliable. Questions, comments and requests can be made at User talk:Headbomb/unreliable.

Merge of inactive higher education wikiprojects

[edit]

I'm proposing to merge this and other inactive higher education-related wikiprojects to WikiProject Higher education. Please see the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Higher education#Merge of inactive higher education wikiprojects. – Joe (talk) 12:45, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
