Change?[edit]

Should the links now point to Wowpedia? — MK (t/c) 11:34, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. I tried to change it myself but don't know if I did it right. Andreona (talk) 03:10, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No, a new template should be created for the new site. Even then, the "Wowpedia" name should link to WoWWiki#Wowpedia, in the format [[WoWWiki#Wowpedia|Wowpedia]]. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 03:21, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've begun the process of delinking this template in light of the move then. Unfortunately, it gives me a message about spammers. Andreona (talk) 03:25, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You should not replace the links the way you're doing it - makes it harder to add the new template once created. Better to create a new template first, then replace the old one with the new one at that point. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 03:49, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I guess Template:Wowpedia already exists. I'll replace it with that instead. Andreona (talk) 04:00, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, in case someone from Wikia comes along and protests the changes, I would be happy to take a vote or whatever the required process would be in the case of a dispute. I am in no way attempting to vandalize or otherwise be disruptive. Andreona (talk) 04:24, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Having a Wowwiki template point to its competitor, Wowpedia, is clearly vandalism. --71.141.246.140 (talk) 04:21, 27 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Deprecating the template[edit]

After the content fork and move to WowPedia, the editorship of Wowwiki has significantly dropped from it's height. I'd like to add the {{Deprecated template}} to this to encourage the use of the wowpedia template and to discourage the use of this template. As it's a significant change, I'll advertise it at the Village Pump (Proposals), WikiProject Video Games, and the above mentioned ANI thread. I'd like to implement the change in 14 days so as to get the ball rolling. Thoughts? Hasteur (talk) 02:57, 30 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your changes seem logical to me. If your suggestions do get the go ahead, I'm willing to help out.--Rockfang (talk) 06:01, 30 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
In my opinion, this template is superceded in fact by Template:Wikia, as WoWWiki can be linked to using wikia:wow:Main Page. --Izno (talk) 18:31, 30 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Agree this template should be deprecated and discouraged. Wowpedia appears to be the officially acknowledged wiki (linked by Blizzard on its site) and it certainly should be encouraged to use that template instead. In cases where the wowwiki one is essential, Izno's suggestion seems appropriate. NULL talk
