With the proliferation of national WikiProjects, even one for Austria-Hungary, 90 years gone, would there be enough interest to justify such a project as this?

You might want to check with the proposed Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals#Eastern Africa group first. Personally, it seems to me that there may be more editors with interests in Europe than Africa, and that might be why the Austria-Hungary project exists. It might be a better idea to create the larger group first, and then, when it is known whether there is enough interest, to create task forces of that larger group. The Austria-Hungary project appears to be inactive. Since you want to deal with pre-1980, such a project can also be part of WP Former countries. - 52 Pickup 20:08, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There is now Wikipedia:WikiProject Zimbabwe. Chris 22:14, 15

Wikipedia:WikiProject Zimbabwe is a different project than Wikipedia:WikiProject Rhodesia as well it should be. Rhodesia is a country that is no longer in existence and very little is written or known about it. This project is an attempt to expand that knowledge base to assist those in the future who are doing research on the subject. Sf46 (talk) 05:46, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Rhodesiancoatofarms.GIF[edit]

Image:Rhodesiancoatofarms.GIF is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Loss of Green & White[edit]

Either through deletion or corruption, the Rhodesian flag became a dead link. I fixed as many (and there were many) of the dead links as I could and moved them to the new duplicate PNG file. To accomodate the ones that I couldn't fix, I re-uploaded a gif file to replace the old one under the same name. I also put a note asking that the file not be deleted unless & until the dead link situation is able to be correcting by locating the hidden sources. Hope this fixes the problem for now. There were an awful lot of pages using the "Green & White". Sf46 (talk) 17:43, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is a better one at Image:Flag of Rhodesia.svg, the gif was deleted because both png and svg are superior methods of graphics. Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 17:52, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'll agree that the PNG & SVG are better photos, but when the photo was deleted, no one bothered to transfer all the links that used the old photo. I dug and dug inot the depths of the templates and could not find all the roots for for the photo links to that old photo. I had to simply replace it until some one can figure how to transfer them all. The other option would be to leave all the red image links visible where the flag used to be. Ok, it appears that someone was able to fix the remaining links. That being the case, you guys can delete the old file again. Sf46 (talk) 21:45, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

German Rhodesia Page[edit]

Currently there's only a page in the German Wikipedia which deals with the Republic of Rhodesia as a British colony and not with the Republic of Rhodesia itself. Then again, there's a link to the article "Zimbabwe". I'd like to start a news page exlusively for the Republic of rhodesia. May I copy from the English article and just translate it into German? It'd be swell if anyone could give me a hand! —Preceding unsigned comment added by UDI4ever (talkcontribs) 18:53, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thats what the other Wikipedias are for... :D Mangwanani (talk) 19:04, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rhodesian Bush War to Second Chimurenga name change?[edit]

There's currently some discussion going on the talk page Talk:Rhodesian Bush War. One user has proposed changing the name of the article Rhodesian Bush War to second Chimurenga. There appears to be some support and some opposition. Sf46 (talk) 11:26, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
