Quotation marks and punctuation

[edit]

A couple members of this course are, in good faith, copy editing articles such that the punctuation is within quotation marks. This is fairly nonstandard on Wikipedia. Generally, unless the punctuation is itself part of a quote, we leave the punctuation outside the marks. This is also generally true for short stories titles like "The Tell-Tale Heart", for example, or "The Story of an Hour". --Midnightdreary (talk) 12:45, 18 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
