Avoid lint errors and follow the Wikipedia manual of style[edit]

Maxel Ruptor, Ian (Wiki Ed): I edited Wikipedia:Wiki Ed/University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire/Epidemiology ENPH 450 (Fall 2023), fixing lint errors. I fixed misnested bold and span tags. {{start of course timeline}} leaves an unclosed <div>, which should be closed with {{Div col end}} (as I did), or just </div>.

I encourage you or someone to copy the changes back to the dashboard. I do not know how to do that.

Also, this course page violates several Wikipedia style standards:

  • Wikipedia style is to use bold, not ALL CAPS, for emphasis. (TUESDAY, THANKSGIVING)
  • Wikipedia style is to use "straight quotes" not “curly quotes”. (“basic science”)
  • Wikipedia style is to use logical quotes, meaning period or goes inside the quote if there was a period or comma in the original, otherwise the period or comma goes outside the quote. You violate this in "mainspace."
  • Wikipedia style is to use en dash (–), not a hyphen (-), for ranges. (1-5 students per group, Weeks 5-7, N = 2-5)
  • Wikipedia style is to use unspaced em dash (—) or spaced en dash ( – ), not a hyphen ( - ), not two hyphens ( -- ) as a separator. (In class - Introduction to the Wikipedia assignment; Assignment - Get started on Wikipedia; Epidemiology ENPH 450 - Fall 2023, (many other hyphens as dashes), You are a Wikipedian -- go forth and make the world a better place.)
  • Wikipedia style is to avoid underlining for emphasis, but if you must underline, don't underline the following space. (before Thanksgiving)

It would be a good idea for the course page to be compliant with the manual of style! —Anomalocaris (talk) 07:12, 28 September 2023 (UTC)`[reply]

Thanks Anomalocaris. I'll let Sage know about this. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 13:44, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Maxel Ruptor, Ian (Wiki Ed): I fix misnested bold again. I preserved the appearance, though the markup (before my edit) implies that someone was trying to get bold or the red color to extend further, but messed up. —Anomalocaris (talk) 09:02, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
