January 07[edit]

Sounds great. So will there be a plan for January? or February? The earlier I get it on the calendar, the more likely I can make it. Doctalk 19:58, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I think we'll pick up with something starting in February, it's quite a bit early, coming off of Christmas, to be getting something together. I'll be in Sun Valley for most of January. —ExplorerCDT 21:40, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Now that you guys are organized, any plans to represent Wikipedia on a gameshow? If the US Secretary of Education has made an appearance on Jeopardy!, can Wikipedia be far behind? -- llywrch 04:17, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I've been trying to get on Jeopardy or Who Wants To Be A Millionaire for years. Very good idea though. —ExplorerCDT 04:36, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And I've been meaning to send an email to Danny at the WMF suggesting the idea as a fund raiser. After all, if 9 Hooter's Girls can be featured on an episode of "1 vs. 100", I figure we should be able attract interest from game show producers to challenge any players with some of Wiipedia's "best" editors. But what these suits need is someone they believe can speak for the Wikipedia community -- like Danny, or the head of a US Wikipedia chapter. So the NY Club ought to work. -- llywrch 04:43, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Photo request[edit]

So I realize that WP:RP exists, but seeing as how that page is pretty neglected, I figured posting here might yield better results. Anyway, I was wondering if any of you New Yorkers might be able to take a photo of the "Peter Jennings Way" sign on the corner of West 66th and Columbus Avenue, and upload it to WP. Many thanks in advance! It's for the article on Peter Jennings. Gzkn 06:20, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • When I get back to NYC later this week (vacation in Idaho right now), I'll see if I can get that done and get it to you by this weekend. —ExplorerCDT 06:36, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • Thanks so much! Gzkn 07:17, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New York Amateur Computer Club invitation[edit]

(Cross-posted to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject New York City)

The New York Amateur Computer Club (www.nyacc.org) has requested that someone involved with Wikipedia give the a presentation. Post replies here Raul654 21:28, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So is there a picnic or what?[edit]

Although I do not know User:ExplorerCDT personally, I have learned he will not be editing on Wikipedia for the foreseeable future (and has not edited since February 8). Since he has been the organizer of some of the activities, a new coordinator is needed. I think it is now best to proceed here without his input, and being bold, I struck his contact information on the project page. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 11:57, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Let's bother Ed Poor about it. :) Signed, your friendly neighborhood MessedRocker. 19:09, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
