Early life[edit]
Ha Soo-young was born on May 24, 1997, in Busan, South Korea, where she lived until elementary school when she moved to Yangsan, South Korea.[citation needed]
Career[edit]
2017–2021: Debut with Loona[edit]
On November 14, 2017, Yves was revealed as the ninth member of the Korean idol girl group Loona.[1] As part of the group's pre-debut release strategy, on November 28, she released her self-titled single album containing two tracks, the single "New" and "D-1".[2] Yves peaked at number 18 on the Gaon Album Chart and went on to sell more than 12,200 copies as of 2022.[3][4] She was introduced as part of Loona's third sub-unit Loona yyxy.[5] The sub-unit includes members Chuu, Go Won and HyeJu, and their EP, Beauty & the Beat, was released on May 30, 2018 and reached number 4 on the Gaon Album Chart.[6][7] She officially debuted with the whole group on August 20 with the EP [+ +], which peaked at number 2 on the Gaon Album Chart.[8][9]
In May 2020, Yves became the new MC of the variety show Fact iN Star alongside Yoo Jaehwan.[10]
2022–present: Lawsuits against Blockberry Creative and solo debut[edit]
On November 28, 2022, it was reported that Yves and all Loona members, except for HyunJin and ViVi, have filed a lawsuit to suspend their contracts with Blockberry Creative, citing a loss of trust in the company. Blockberry Creative has denied these allegations.[11] On January 13, 2023, it was revealed that Yves, along with HaSeul, Go Won, Olivia Hye, and YeoJin, lost the trial against Blockberry Creative regarding the termination of their exclusive contracts.[12] However, on June 16, The Seoul High Court's 5th Civil Cases Division ruled in favor of Yves, HaSeul, Go Won, Olivia Hye, and YeoJin, allowing them to suspend their exclusive contracts with Blockberry Creative.[13]
On March 14, 2024, it was reported that Yves had signed an exclusive contract with Paix Per Mil.[14] She made her solo debut under the agency on May 29 with the EP Loop.[15]
