The ZIL-118 Yunost ("Youth") is a microbus built by Zavod imeni Likhachova (Russian: Завод имени Лихачёва, Factory named for Likhacov), or ZIL.
Based on the ZIL-111 limousine, and using it's chassis, suspension, and transmission, the ZIL-118 Yunost was developed in 1961,[1] on the factory's own initiative. Only 20 were initially built because of a lack of interest of government.[2][3] Nevertheless, interest on the vehicle did increase, and an ambulance version, the 118A, also appeared, but was only built in a single prototype. The few built were solely to special order, with a number as high-capacity ambulances.[4] Later, the design was further developed and facelifted in 1970, being renamed the ZIL-119. There were also several versions of this vehicle: the 118K coach 118KS ambulance, both using the ZIL-508.10 V8 from the ZIL-130 truck.[4]
The ZIL-118 was further facelifted in the 1980s, becoming the ZIL-3207. This new version also included some modernizations, such as recieving the lighting equipment from VAZ-2105. Production ended in 1994, with total number built, of the 118K/KS and 3207, reaching only 86.
