Category:Archaeological sites of Western Africa

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Page dedicated to archaeological sites in West Africa (as opposed to the study of West African Archaeology itself). West Africa is as defined by the UN (Mauritania, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Senegal, Gambia, Cape Verde, and any other islands off the coast). Note that not all countries are listed in the archaeological sites list, because not all have categories.

This category is intended for individual archaeological sites, not complexes or cultures. These should be categorized under Category:Archaeology of Western Africa. As such, an article about the archaeological site of Nok should go under this category, whereas an article about the broader Nok Culture should not.
